DId anyone think about doing a Honeymoon Registry??
Has anyone looked into or thought about doing an Honeymoon registry for their bridal shower or e-party or wedding?
As opposed to the typical Macys or Fortunoff Registry, FH and I were thinking about creating a honeymoon registry where guests can contribute to the airfare, hotel, excursions, dinner reservations, etc once you've picked your destination.... We already did the new house thing and we have all the blenders and sheets and towels and vases we need........

i just found out LibertyTravel.com has one....if that helps....I know they are a very well known company...maybe people will feel more comfortable.....
The only downside is these sites charge you OR the person giving anywhere from a 3 to 7 percent service charge just for leaving a gift!!

It has to be carefully researched b/c some of the sites charge a fee. Shop around because the fee gets taken out of the total amount on some of the site.
I was getting frustrated trying to find a good one and then I figured if someone wants to give money they will. Whether or not I allocate it to the honeymoon can be our choice.

YES!! the service charges are the reason I did not do this.....
I guess if you have a lot of things for your home already and don't need traditional shower gifts it is a great option...but the service charge thing annoyed me b/c they are not doing any other service for you...just cutting a check for the total amount that was given to you....so it seemed like a waste.

I might look into this. This might be a good thing for the people I work with. They always do a shower at work and they collect $ they can maybe put it towards the HM.

I'm most likely having one. People can stop by or call up my TA and make a payment for their gift. I should ask about any fees...I don't remember than mentioning any.

We did!! I got so many awesome gifts from it at my bridal shower. The only down side is you don't actually receive the gift until a few days before you leave for the honeymoon. You get a check from them. I think it was an awesome idea.

Yea, I'm doing that honeymoon registry and fortunoff so it gives the guests an option to do what they want. My TA never mentioned the service fee to us. I think it's a great idea and we actually would rather get that then bridal gifts since we don't have a house yet and don't have anywhere to put anything in our tiny apartment :)

Re: DId anyone think about doing a Honeymoon Registry??
There was a post 2 weeks ago about it. Someone said that there were all kinds of cons that went into a HM registry, but aparently there are people who thought it was a great idea.
I think with everything though you are going to find things that are good and bad. If you find a travel agent who will do it make sure you ask them if they charge a fee and find out how much it is before deciding. If you feel comfortalbe with it then go with it.
