Did everyone buy their own cake serving set? If so....
Where did you get it? Is it best to just buy an inexpensive one or is this something I should spend more money on and save forever??? It's sort of last minute but I forgot about it.....

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, most bridal shops carry them.

I didn't buy one. I just used the one from the reception hall. It was something I didn't want to spend money on and then have to figure out what to do with it afterwards. LOL
Also, according to Chinese superstition, it is bad luck to give someone a knife because it represents severing the relationship. So I didn't want anyone to buy one for me.

I didn't purchase any cake serving set. My hall provided us with a nice cake cutter and server on the day of our wedding, so I wouldn't have to worry about purchasing one.

I bought a Beverly Clark set, and ended up selling it to another bride. If you're sentimental, buy a set, otherwise, I'd use the one the hall provides, and save yoursel fthe $$.
Also, if you've registered for fine china, see if there's a matching set, and someone would purchase it for you.

My mom bought us ours, but I don't think it was expensive. It's not the cost that matters, it's the sentiments behind it, I kept our set and have it displayed in its box in our kitchen now.

Ours was bought for us...it's lenox but it wasn't a 2 piece set...it was one with the china handle that works for cutting and serving...I'm not sure if its any less expensive to do it that way. We'll definately keep it and maybe get it engraved mostly because it's from our wedding day but also because of the person it came from and the thought behind the gift...if we bought it ourselves I think I'd be a little less attached to it

I put mine on my registry and my mom bought mine and had it personalized for me and gave it to me at my shower (I think that is a really long run-on sentence, no?). It's not necessary as the hall will provide you with one.

I didn't get one to use at the reception.
We received the one that matches our sterling flatware, but I never had the intention of bringing it to the reception. I am glad I didn't wasted the money on another one...

we got our own... only because i happened to get an AWESOME deal on a lennox one at JC Penny. i think its nice to have a nice set, but at the same time, i couldn't tell ya which box in the attic ours is in now so i wouldn't go crazy trying to find a super nice one...
