Did I do my RSVP's wrong???

Did I do my RSVP's wrong???

I left the RSVP cards blank so that people can put in the number of guests attending. Since I left it blank, some people think that's an open invitation for guest. But I told them, I addressed it to you only. If I invited you w/ a guest, it would've said '& Guest' or the person's name. Am i right here????

Just b/c it's blank doesn't mean you can bring whoever!

technically, if you address it to just one person, they shouldn't put more than 1 person attending on your rsvp. i did my rsvp cards the same way you just described and i have had no problems...yet!

My first invite proof had it like yours but FH wanted to specify the amount of seats reserved for them so we did it like ____ seats have been reserved in your honor and then filled them in accordingly.

But of course, as tis the nature of things, I'm having the opposite issue and people are not bringing dates but not specifying on their cards that only one seat is necesary so I'm overcounting for some guests

No you did it right - I did it the same way so no worries!

You just gotta lay down the law if people feel it's okay to add someone!

ooooooooooh that is so annoying! how can you tell? did you call them or they only wrote 1 name down? This is the WORST part of planning BY FAR!

omg, the nerve to argue with you and tell you what YOU meant is wrong.

I had a couple write their names in but not check off if they are coming or not

they should teach classes for correct rsvping

We are actually adding in a line that reads 'We have reserved ___ seats in your honor' and our invites designer will print the # into the space.

Then there will be lines that read:
Accepts with pleasure ___
Declines with regret ____
Number of guests attending ___

We're hoping that this makes it CRYSTAL CLEAR. But, a lot of people's elevator doesn't quite reach the penthouse, so who knows?

well some people told me before they sent their RSVPs in that they aren't bringing a date. Then when I got their cards in, they still have 2 spots reserved on their card. So then i think maybe they changed their minds and are now brining a date. So i have to keep following up to make sure my numbers are correct

I hear ya but you just have to put it out there. We had someone add a guest, FH asked him about it and he flat out said 'i did that, oh wow - no I'm not bringing someone, not sure why i put 2'

ummm what?!?!?!

And FH explained that it's strickly a space thing and if we could, we would extend a guest to everyone but we just can't with the size of the guest list.

Play dumb (like they do) and that should help you get it resolved.

You didn't do anything wrong. When people put in we have reserved # of seats for you, it's just to make sure they are idiot proof and even that doesn't always work. Sorry!

whether he was playing dumb or not, at least they didn't argue with you about it. i'm really close with some of these ppl so i have no problems telling me about not having a guest but seriously, don't try to argue with me that i'm wrong. i cannot WAIT for these ppl to get married and see the stuff that we have to deal with. they seriously have NOOOOOOOO idea!
