Did I overpay for my DJ

We are paying $2000 for our DJ which includes DJ and MC
ceremony music, cocktail hour music and 4hr reception. Total of 6hrs.

Started to second guess, when I see that people are paying less....

The above was my response to this post...I don't know about you girls but I just received forum mail form a DJ who is a vendor on here insinuating that this is too much to pay and saying 'If you compare apples to apples, then yes, most people overpay.'

Totally unsolicited and in my opinion a rude thing to send to someone who clearly has already booked a DJ and didn't ask fro an opinion...Just pi**ed me off so I wanted to post this!

yes, I got this SAME FM!!!!! I told the guy never to FM me again....I was so pissed off!

Thanks, everyone. FH really liked the DJ. I was just weary since I did not get any other quotes to compare it to.

I got the same FM.

This is what I paid and I did look around and DJs ranged greatly. I felt that $2000 was midrange and that he did do a better job than the DJ we saw for less $$ though this is all a matter of personal opinion

We are paying more than that...but it was the DJ we wanted and I know they are excellent

I don't think the price is too high. Did you get a light show, or upgrade anything

JMO, we did not need any extras since our wedding is a day wedding in July, at the VYC, the reception room is surrounded by windows. Personally, the lights would be a waste. Wist regrd to the plasma screens, noone could guarantee against the sun glare.

I paid $1300.00 for DJ/MC, Intelligent lighting, fog machine and giveaways. Cocktail Hour and Reception - 5 hours total.

You certainly didn't overpay. My DJs are doing ceremony and 5 hour reception with dancers and they're charging me $3900

We are paying $275 for 4 hours which includes music for ceremony and reception and MC.

Ours is $2,000 with the cocktail hour & reception - so 5 total hours. We just clicked with them - so we went with our gut and the good reviews we read.
