touche!.. very well said, good gentleman!
sniff sniff.. losing to the Marlins on your home field before a WS audience... sniff sniff
oh the shame.......
wouldn't it be funny if Pettitte clinches it for the Stros this year the same way Beckett did!
Well lets see... would I rather see my team lose in the World Series , while giving their fans an exciting ride?
Or would I rather witness my team sink to rockbottom, lose embarrassingly throughout the season, wind up down south by October.. And not even MAKE it to the World Series more than 2x in nearly 20 years?
Me, I'll chose a loss in the World Series. At least we can wear the AL Champ title proudly
you left something outi'd rather see a team lose respectfully than buy their way to the top
the 'dynasty' of the last 90's as the yankee faithful put it, was purchased lock stock and barrell

I know, PrincessRose .. I know
The money thing is all they have in retaliation, though .. every Mets fan in the world throws it up at us (not to mention all baseball fans).
Its ok .. I understand the anger towards the amount of money spent on the Yankees. But if it were all about BUYING the best team in baseball we would have won every world series every year for the past 10 years. We haven't. Therefore, we haven't bought anything.

If the yankee fans can keep saying the same thing about the mets then why not get the same from met fans about the yankees.I guess the truth hurts Don and that's why they can't hear it.

I'm going to break my own rule.. just for once and say something nice about the Yanks.
I thought in 96.. they deserved the WS title. They had brought up a good number of young kids who knew how to play.. along with a good number of veteran role players.. they were no super-stars on that team.. just a bunch of good players who knew how to play.
I can respect that '96 team.
Now getting back to normal...
The Yanks have been and will always been about money. The Yanks could not have won so much if they didn;t spend the money to KEEP their young players from '96.
If the Yanks had not, they would have been the American League version of the Montreal Expos. Then they went out.. and have gone out and bought a number of hired guns...
And they have pursued every All-STAR available... many from small market teams.
This is not debatable.
Yankee fans hate to hear about the money.. and it's true.. the Mets try to duplicate them but did so horribly.
To me.. it's just not fun to root for a team of All-Stars.. and outspend another team by 10x.
I can respect the 96 team.. but that's it. JMO.

Re: Did the mets win last night?
and an AL title means nothing -- because the AL is so lopsided, having a title by beating the tampa bay devil rays and the blue jays, that are so far out of your league financially makes the yanks a joke

I'd like to know exactly what it is that I keep saying, other than 'Go Yankees!'?

Re: Did the mets win last night?
First of all I didn't mean it directly to you. all we hear is that we are the hapless mets and that we havent won a WS in 20 years. we can't afford to buy off players like the yankees do.
