did they not say 'you may now kiss the bride'

did they not say 'you may now kiss the bride'

I have seen ALOT of brides saying that the priest forgot to say it. I was just reading the thread about what went wrong and saw it again.

I don't think they forgot, i think they changed the rules for this or something because I see too many people saying this. Even at our wedding they didn't say it, our priest whispered to us to walk down the 2 steps and when we get down there to kiss. After our wedding, our married GM said to us that they also didnt say it at their weddings and they think its the new thing bc they also thought their priest forgot but since then all the weddings they attended, the same thing happened.

I'm sitting here trying to remember if he did, and of course my mind is blank. I don't think he said it in the way that you see on tv. We had a full mass, and I know there wasn't a break in there for him to say it. But at the end he did say something to us, but like I said, not the expected 'You may now kiss the bride.'

Hmmppph! Well someone should make this known then, b/c I sure was expecting it! DH and I stood up there looking at each other like idiots while everyone clapped, and then we glanced at the priest who then said (sarcastically), 'what, do you need my permission to kiss'? Not really what I had dreamed of for that special moment!!

we weren't told either and we found it weird, luckily our priest did say that when we walk down the 2 steps to just kiss, but there was a moment like 'wait is he going to say it first' i think it confuses the guests too.

But then we did find it weird that all our married GM said the same thing. ALso, ive seen alot of girls on LIW saying their priest forgot. So i am thinking that it cant be so many priests all forgot to say it.

Maybe its not every church but there has to be some new rule about this or something.

hmm I wonder if its a new church thing? We got married at our hall, so our rev. said it. Very interesting!

My officiant is saying it - I read my ceremony a few days ago and it is in there FH would never kiss me in front of anyone without being told anyhow! He is too shy about PDA's ...

Well I take most of the blame myself anyway... I should have confirmed everything that would be said. You know what happens when you assume...!!

its funny bc i am the one who is shy about PDA, i hate it. DH always hated how I wouldn't even give him a tap kiss in front of his family or mine. He would do it to get me mad and i would push him away and tell him to stop. So all along he kept teasing me that for the wedding day I have to kiss him in front of our families. He said i'll probably be so shy about it, and then the wedding day i am the one who went in for it and grabbed his head he was very surprised. But i think its bc he bothered me so much about it and i didnt want to be up there looking like an idiot and not being able to kiss him, so right before it happened all i kept saying to myself was 'just go for it'

That's funny because our priest never pronounced us man and wife but did give us 'permission' to kiss. It didn't bother us at all since no one could understand what he was saying to begin with.

The priest said to us 'I wouldn't stop you if you guys kissed right now'.

my Pastor said it at my friends wedding a couple weeks ago, so I assume he'll say it to me as well.

I remember being at a couple of weddings, where whoever was marrying them never said 'I now pronounce you man & wife'. Sometimes they just say something like 'I introduce you to Mr & Mrs ____'. I don't like that. I want to be PRONOUNCED. lol. And I want FH to be told that he can NOW KISS THE BRIDE.

Maybe I'll make this clear at the rehearsal... just in case

we got married in a catholic church and they said it in our cermony, the preist even made a little joke saying that our 1st kiss wasnt long enough and to kiss me again, lol

but then he also said to us at rehearsal i am going to announce you as husband and wife walk down the 3 or 4 steps and kiss each other again. I wonder if each church is different

We had our rehearsal on Sat. night. We went through the ceremony step by step and our priest said 'you may now kiss the bride' So, it will be in our ceremony.

its not an actual part of the catholic ceremony so its not like he 'forgot' but we just kissed after we were announced as Mr and Mrs

Funny story but after that we lit the unity candle and DH grabbed my face and kissed me and it was a beautiful moment but I thought we were getting in trouble for kissing on the altar. . .

my catholic guilt!
