did they not say 'you may now kiss the bride'

Original post by Espo22

I have seen ALOT of brides saying that the priest forgot to say it. I was just reading the thread about what went wrong and saw it again.

I don't think they forgot, i think they changed the rules for this or something because I see too many people saying this. Even at our wedding they didn't say it, our priest whispered to us to walk down the 2 steps and when we get down there to kiss. After our wedding, our married GM said to us that they also didnt say it at their weddings and they think its the new thing bc they also thought their priest forgot but since then all the weddings they attended, the same thing happened.

our pastor refused to say it. he said at that point we are husband and wife so who is he to tell us when to kiss

it was annoying because we didnt know when to kiss!

I went to a Polish wedding this weekend and it was so strange. Everything regarding the church was backwards including the groom being on the left side of the aisle. They didnt announce them as husband and wife and they didnt even kiss!!! All of a sudden they were just walking down the aisle. it was so weird

different cultures have different ceremonies. In my religion and culture the weddings are VERY different, so not weird but just different. I ended up doing a catholic ceremony since DH is catholic and more religious but otherwise if we did it like my culture then we wouldve had a completely different ceremony

I think he did say it after we exchanged our vows. But there was a second time around after he prounces us that I looked at the priest to see if it was okay to kiss he then nodded yes and put his hands out. It was funny I have to check the video again to see what happened. I bet everyone will go home and watch the ceremony.

Mine thought he was funny and said something like:

Angelo & Laura will now kiss for 5 minutes while we all watch.

Not exactly what I pictured the priest saying at the end of out ceremony...

I really don't remember, but I am sure the priest didn't whisper for us to kiss.

It wasn't said at our wedding. In fact, because of that, it didn't really sink in that we were officially married until the reception when we were introduced. I wish we got to do that.
