When we got engaged EVERYONE asked us when we are registering and where. So we went and did a few things. We did not have an E-party nor do we really expect gifts but why did everyone ask use about a registry and so far we have gotten nothing from it......Sorry to complain but it was a complete waste of time

The same thing happen to me. I didn't get gifts until I had my bridal shower and when it was closer to my wedding.
Edit to say: Just look at it this way...you now have it out of the way and something else crossed off your list.

Same here, I did get a few gifts after we announced our engagement. Then people hounded us to register so we did...and now nothing! I can't wait to be a major peeker when my shower gets closer.

A couple of my FI's relatives asked where we were registered so soon after our engagement. We also chose not to have an engagement party, but I think these relatives wanted to buy us something anyway. We have not registered yet, and probably won't for another month or two. However, I gave a couple of ideas for gifts to my FMIL who then passed the info to the relatives. Don't let anyone stress you out or rush you into the planning - it is YOUR wedding and you need to plan the way YOU want to plan.
we went away for the weekend...when we were engaged...so I called my mom on sat morning to tell her...BY SUNDAY!! I had 3 voice mails on my cell telling me that we really had to register, b/c people were asking her...
we registered 2-3 weeks later and people also registering were laughing at us b/c we were so early...but we had an eparty about 1 1/2 months later...and we did get a lot from the registry then...
