Did wedding planning..

Did wedding planning..

Make anyone else hate all their 'friends'. I cant wait for it to be over before i have no friends left. People never cease to amaze me with how inconsiderate they are.

With two weeks left to go our best man just drops out of the wedding party. Claiming something about morning health problems, but hes still coming as a guest...

One of my best and long time friends dropped out of my bridal party for financial reasons, then 'never' got the invite to my shower.. and then 'couldnt' find a sitter for the bachelorette party..

My other friend that ive known since 2nd grade has a 'married' boyfriend that is a jerk and that i hate for being a no good cheat and pretty much insane. For the bach party the one thing i asked is that she doesnt let him bring her down that night or talk to him (cause hes master of guilt trips).. What happens.. she leaves early to go to him..

I just hate everyone today.

I didn't have quite as much stuff happen to me...but some really let me down, others were great.

Unfortunately with wedding planning and the aftermath you realize that although people may be happy for you, it is not as important to them as it is to you. Once I realized that I was able to be ok with things.

i said this once before on these boards, but it's worth saying again:
When I got engaged, the first thing my mother said to me (after congratulating and all that) was to not be surprised, because Weddings & Funerals always bring out the worst in people. And it's soooo true!!

I'm sorry you're having a rough time. I guess now you're seeing the true nature of some of your friends

I learned a lot during the wedding planning process. I learned who my real friends are and who does not care about me at all because they care too much about themselves to care about anyone else. I am on the fence about a few but I am sure during the next four weeks I will have a definite answer about our friendship.

But I also learned that fh is the best.

I know exactly what you mean! the day I announced im getting engaged my moms side of the fam. aunt and daughter's decided they want to become my arch enemies because they were all jealous. Its sad, very sad. they didnt come to my engagment party and they showed up to the wedding with frowns on their faces and they didnt get up off of their chairs.

I made a decision after the wedding not to have any contact with them anymore. they are like poison and I dont want to be around them.

Yes, I could have written your post, sad to say. Everything was fine with my wedding, until the subject of MONEY came up to my BP, and other friends. Suddenly $40 is going for force people into bankruptcy. Comments were made back and forth, and before you know it, its a full blown argument of 'what comes around goes around', you'll feel differently when it's your turn', etc. etc.

Needless to say, I dont plan on remaining friends with too many people after this whole process. It has taken a wedding to see who are real friends, and who are not.
what a dam n SHAME.

It really is a shame. I dont keep many close friends. I have a very few close friends and a lot of acquaintances. Its sad when those acquaintances do more than those lifetime friends. I am the first of us to get married so they dont know how it is, but when their time comes well see how quick i am to go out and do stuff for them. I didnt want to be this way but ive had it. Ive lost faith in people.

Unfortunately wedding planning made me dislike a lot of people and my relationships with them will probably never be the same. It's very sad

Oh you are not alone! FH and I have had so many disappointments from so-called friends and family as well.

I had 'good' friends not RSVP or show up to my shower, and it looks like they're doing the same for the wedding.

FH uncle (only uncle and Godfather) who RAISED him just sent the RSVP with a note saying he will not be attending the wedding bc he'll be GOLFING in Myrtle Beach. WHAT!!!???!!!!!!!????? Seriously!? FH is so crushed.

My friend is only going to the wedding if she can find a really hot date to make her ex jealous (who will also be there) I told her not to bother coming at all.

Honestly... I don't think it's sad at all. I'm glad I know now who we can really count on. I don't need these people in my life. What is sad is that I actually believed they cared about us.

I had a lot of disappointment during my wedding planning (DH too by the way). People not RSVPing, friends that came to the wedding and said they would send me a gift and didn't, friends who I thought were my friends not really happy for me (just pretending or worse, ignoring!). What one of the PPs said is so true...weddings and funerals bring out the worst in everyone. But, the most important thing to remember is that you are marrying your FH and nothing can change that.

Re: Did wedding planning..

everyone that has posted is so right. How can people or 'friends' act this way. And i 100% agree, that acquaintances have totally stepped up to the plate way more than some of my 'close friends'. I am glad I have found all of this out now.. because when it's their 'turn', whether it be engagement, wedding, pregnancy, birth of a baby... guess where I'll be?????

Conveniently not around...

Re: Did wedding planning..

You do get to see the true nature of your friends. Some people really surprised me with their very poor excuses as to why they couldn't come to the wedding. Others just blew everything off without even an apology. But there were the select few who stepped up and were amazing.

As my best friend and I say 'we've got your number' - and now I know who I can count on and who is a waste of my time.

With the exception of a few people yes. This is the time where you know who your true friends are. Since planning the wedding, I know longer speak to my cousins, and if it was not too late, I probably wouldn't have asked to of my other BMs to be a part of it.
