Well, sometimes earlier is better because you have more time to look out for good deals. But I travel A LOT (both in the U.S. and abroad - it's why I became a teacher! to have all that free time...) and I typically book my vacations about 6 or 8 weeks in advance. So you have tons of time; don't feel rushed.

(Edited to say: if you're looking for a solid number, my honeymoon will be in July 2008 and we'll probably book it in March or April of that year.)

ok - - -I teach also and though that I could really start scoping out travel agents during the summer. I just feel better know that I don't have to be booked already. I am sure that before next Sept. we'll know where we're going ha ha ha ha.

Thanks girls

We're booking this week - getting married in Feb

I think what Dava said is true, but it also depends WHEN your honeymoon is
for me, february sells out because of the school vacation so earlier is better for me

we can't get a price till next month...sandlas doesnt include your airfare unless it is a year or less before the day you fly. So we are putting it on hold untill then

If you want to book your flight along with your HM you have to wait until about a year ahead because the flights aren't released until around that time.

We went in January because we knew what we wanted and we wanted to start paying for it and the flights weren't posted yet. So we booked our hotel (Sandals) and then the TA called us about a week or two later and booked our flights.

Good luck girls!! I am so excited for our HM!!!

Re: did you book your honeymoon yet????

I would not book your honeymoon until at least six months out. prices a year out are the highest they can sell it at.... The closer you go the cheaper it is.... I would suggest if you're going to mexico/Caribbean booking two months out for the best prices.... Hawaii/tahiti/Europe about 6 months.
I would book longer out if you are getting married around christmas time as that is when hotels sell out and never reduce prices....
Keep in mind I work in the travel business
