Did you close on the first closing date they gave you?
Did anyone accually close on their first closing date. If not, how long did they postpone it?

We didn't. The ins. co. for our homeowner's screwed up b/c our agent went home sick. I was so angry!!! We were postponed 5 very long days (felt like forever)!

We closed the second date they gave us, which was only a few days later. Frustrating isn't it?

We had about 3 or 4 closing dates, I don't even remember anymore. But then again, we had unusual circumstances. Our lawyer was also a volunteer firefighter and was badly burned in a fire when we were first supposed to close. Our first closing date was in early June and we were postponed about once a month until we finally closed at the end of September.

Thanks girls...I heard that they postpone the closing date sometimes. Just wanted to prepear myself. haha...Everything has happened so fast. In one week we saw the house...brought out parents...our bid was accepted...inspectors inspected...and signed the contract.
My friends went thru this already and they said that my situation was not normal???? so I was jsut confused.

We actually bought our house in 1 day! We saw it the first day it went up for sale, looked at it, made an offer and later that night we got a call that they accepted our offer! It does happen quickly sometimes!

Ive been through three closings... and we all closed on the day they gave me the first time.
You can't count not closing on a given day unless the day was agreed on by all parties.
Sometimes they give you a tentative date... but then somebody bails. You can't count those days.
Once they set a date in stone for closing... its usually good to close on that day because if you resechedule... you have to do it through so many parties... PITA.

That is so funny. Your situation seems very similar to ours. We did the same thing...found a house on Friday afternoon, saw it Friday night and made an offer that night, our offer was excepted SAt and we signed the Contract by monday. We closed 5 weeks after that. No one, (including the attorneys on both sides) could believe how fast things happened. We actually became very friendly w/ the sellers and were able to expedite things between us. BTW, we did close on the first date we were given, however we almost did not b/c we were given the wrong names to put on the bank check and we almost had a problem w/ changing the check w/ the bank...(yes we were very annoyed!!!) but it all worked outand we closed and now we already started working in it!!! Good luck!!!
BTW. you wedding date is on my B-day and your reception is in my neighborhood!

Nope. We closed 4 weeks later then the original closing date due to the seller not being able to move out. Hopefully you will close as scheduled. Good luck with everything!
