I know a lot of people were let out early from work today. My school let out at 2:30pm and FH's company let them leave at 2:40pm.

I left earely because my Dh drives me to the train and picks me up(we save a lot of money this way)and I had to wait for him because of the terrible raods. My office did not close but I just told my boss that I was leaving

I also worked a full day, plus some.... I too live really close (about 5 miles) but the roads were BAD coming home. My car door was frozen shut and I needed help getting it open.
We are home now with take-out having dinner and we're going to put a fire on later in the fireplace.

We got out at 3:15 - but it took me over 3 hours to get home I would have been better off working until 7ish and then heading home.

That's like asking can fish live out of water They even sent an email letting us know that the company was not closed and us leaving was on the discretion on our direct report....you know what I say to that BOOOOOOOOO

I teach in a high school and we dismissed at 12:45 pm, the middle school let out at 1:30 and the poor elementary teachers were there till 3:20 pm.

i got out at 2pm- it took me 21/2 hours to get home ( it usually take 30 minutes) so i left early but got home almost around regular time

4:15 (not early enough) but I work 5 minutes from home so it took me 10 minutes

I got out at 1pm but it took me 2 hours to get home Usually, in rush hour traffic, it takes 45minutes. DH left at 5:30pm (usual time) and it took him 1hr and 15min - The usual time it takes! I guess most people left early.
