Did you give your hall a 'lower' #

We have to give our final number tonight...

did you lowball your hall in case you had no show's or did you give your real number.

We pay for whatever # we give tonight - it can't go down.

Is that normal to subtract a couple of people...is this something common???

I would definitely do that, give them the final count -2-5 people. There's always a chance somebody won't show up. I went to 3 weddings in June and towards the end of the wedding of each I noticed at least 4-10 placecards not taken, a good indication that the people were no-shows.

Besides, you can pay more on the wedding day if you have extra guests but NEVER get your money back once you give the final headcount. ;)

That's a great idea - I def. think I am going to give a lower number. Thanks! :)

I thought about doing that, but the number I give has to match the number of people on the seating chart. I would have had to decide which people to leave without seats and place cards.

Most RH will let you give them a smaller number of guests. It depends on the number of guests but 2-5 people deducted from your total is what I heard.

That way you don't have to overpay and you can always add them on your day.

I think our reception site wouldn't host a wedding for lower than 125, so we guaranteed 125 at the price of 110pp, with the clause that if we DID get 150+ people, the price would drop to 105pp.

I did and I should have went lower b/c 8 people backed out the last week. They can always add at the last minute and will never give you $ back. We paid for 10 people that couldn't come at the last minute..

I am definitely giving a lower number. Many people told me to do this, and I think it is a great idea.

oh wait... I answered the wrong question. sorry.

Yeah... we'll probably give about 5 less people. . Better than paying for no-shows, which there ALWAYS are!

A lot of my friends who got married this year told me to underestimate like 6-8 people from your final head count, depending on how many you invited. You can always add on, but once you quote the #, that's what they charge you for! Not fun, especially if for example you have to spend around $400 on four no-shows!
