Re: did you know?
Kaangel, congratulations for your parents. In this day and age you do know how unusual it is to reach that milestone. You have a wonderful example to follow.I was married 36 years ago and the dinner cost $11.95. We announced our engagement on Thanksgiving and got married the day after Christmas. We did it ALL in 5 weeks. And I mean everything - invitations, gowns, Bridal party, formal wedding, photographers, etc. What made it possible is that year Christmas was on a Sunday and we got married on a Monday. It was very unusual but extremely beautiful. We had a major snowstorm Christmas Eve and the Grand Central PKwy. was closed except for one lane. I was 45 min. late to church, but everyone else was there, patiently waiting. And with no cell phones, one can only imagine what people were thinking. Oh, and my formal satin long-sleeved wedding gown cost $ 125. I just took it out to show my daughter and she was speechless.
I wish you all the same love and happiness I have known and in 36 years, more or less, may you all be fortunate enough to be planning your daughter's wedding as I have the thrill of doing now.
All the best.
Mary
