on your dress price? I found “the one” over the weekend (yay!!!). And I’m going back soon to show my BMs and I want to make a commitment. It’s a few hundred more than I originally wanted to spend but I can afford it (it’s THE dress afterall!). I’m just curious as to whether or not you ladies negotiated on price and how. I know I should probably go to another shop and compare... I just hate the thought of having to pretend that I’m still searching for my dress and waste the consultant’s time especially when I feel the pressure from them to buy (knowing that they work on commissions). Will a consultant tell me the price over the phone or e-mail if I’ve been to them recently? I had been e-mailing back and forth with a consultant from another shop about a different dress up until Monday. I guess I can just give it a try and see what she says...

I called around for prices once I found the one. Some shops wouldn't give me a price, and a few did.

I did. I found it at 1 store....called or went to other stores that carried the same maker (Sottero) and got quotes....I told them that I found the 1 I want but just want to get the best deal on it....but remember alts are an add on! I also told them once I knew who I was buying from Id also be back w my girls for their dresses. As well as my moms dress (More you buy....better price you get)
Once I got the best price I went to Bridal Elegance and got a quote from her....in 07 she was the 1 to go too for a 'deal' and well she def beat all the quotes and even knocked more off....

Have you tried seeing if the designer is having a trunk show anytime soon? You usually get a discount on whatever designer they are hosting.

yup. Well, my mom did. We had a % off for a trunk show we went to and my mom somehow negotiated another 10% off and had alteration fees reduced.
I have no clue how she does it lol.

Unfortunately my designer is notorious for not letting ANY shops give a discount on his designs. If he finds out that a dress shop gave a discount, he will pull his line from their store!!! Kinda high handed and pissed me off, but I really love the dress and it wasn't outrageously priced so we went ahead and purchased it anyway.
We did get a discount on the BM dresses though!

If not on the price of the dress, maybe they can do something on the alteration. It can't hurt to ask.

I tried but someone made a mistake and marked my dress as Discontinued so it was already much cheaper..even cheaper than RK which seems to have the cheapest dresses ever.
