My friend said that she was able to do it and it was by phone. She had the style number she wanted and called around asking the price and seeing if they would match the price of the previous store. some places have a price match policy. these are your best bet.
there are also places online that beat prices (netbride.com is one). But I don´t know how reliable they are.

Yes, I priced my dress at 2 different stores. The shop I ordered my dress from was $500 more than the other stores. I told the salesperson the other prices I received and she beat the other stores prices so that I would order my dress. Most dress shops will work with you. I also had the prices and style number on a business card from the other 2 stores as proof just in case they asked.

I got an awesome price on my dress to begin with, so there was really no reason for me to negotiate on the price

I tried...but I did get a great deal. It was $150 less at RK, but the alterations would have been an additional $300. That was pretty much everywhere that carried the dress. However, I went to Valentina's in Brooklyn, the price of my dress included alterations and is closer to my house than the other places that had it. Also, they gave me a free head piece and a veil. I easily made out..saved hundreds.

I was also buying my headpiece and veil from the same place and I said 'is there any kind of deal you can do for me since I'm buying the dress, veil and headpiece here?' They took about $40 off the entire price...thats it
No, I actually paid about 75 bucks more because I was not comfortable with the customer service at one place...

Yes! I bargained reallll hard with the owner and got a VERY good price. However... I'm not going to use it because I found a different dress!

yup same here....the place I found my dress at was high so I shopped around and negotiated a better deal.

I actually CRIED at the bridal salon which totally had them drop the price another 5% for me

i was wondering the same thing when watching Say Yes to the Dress last night... it seemed everyone was bargaining prices in those episodes
but no i didn't bargain.. i thought the price of the dress was AMAZING for what i thought it was worth, so i got it on the spot.. no questions asked.. didnt even look around
...maybe i should have tried to haggle a little??

I only got a 12% discount because they were actually having a trunk show for the designer of my dress that day, but other than that they didn't want to hear anything.

i didn't . i was excited about the dress and completely forgot to bargain. i wish i tried lol but i'm sure they wouldn't take much off if any cuz it's fall 09 gown!
