I've heard about people ordering their dresses too small and then dieting like crazy to fit into them. What did you do?
When I say 'my size' I mean whatever size you were measured to be, not your street size. My dress size is way bigger than my street size!

When I ordered my dress I could have fit a 6 perfectly but they had me order an 8 because God forbid I gained weight then I'd never fit into the 6.
I would have been fine ordering the 6 because I plan to lose a little more weight.

I ordered my dress based on my measurements they took. I thought it was going to be big- and it was HUGE. I did lose some weight too- but think they ordered it large (alterations are included- so not like they were doing it to rip me off). If it were totally up to me (my MOH wouldn't let me do it) I would have ordered it smaller. Just hope in 2 weeks when I have my 2nd fitting it fits more like the sample I tried on!!

Its a really BAD idea to order a dress that is too small. It can always be taken in. My dress was way too big, but I would so much rather have it be big than too small.

The sample size fit me perfectly, so thats what I ordered. I've been the same size for years, so i'm not expecting that I'll gain any weight.

i am a size 8..when i went to order my dress they ordered me a 14!!!!!!!!! I was like *** lol i fell between 2 sizes, so they went up instead of down. But either way thats like 3-4 sizes larger than what i normally wear
is that even possible ??

My measurements fit perfectly the size of the dress, so I ordered it in that size. I plan on losing about 5 pounds, or ideally losing some fat and putting on some muscle, but nothing crazy.

I ordered my dress to fit whatever size i was then...but I was at my biggest then and will be about 25 lbs lighter around the time of my wedding. so...i expect quite a bit of alterations.

I ordered my dress based on my measurements as well. I think it is going to be huge & wanted to get smaller but they talked me out of it saying that it is easier to take in than out! So we'll see!!

Same thing with me! I was told that my dress size was going to be much higher than what I normally wear. I wear between a 0-2 and my measurements fit a size 8. Not sure why it's like that.

same thing happened with me - i wear a 6, and they ordered me a 12! the sample size was a 10 and fit me perfect, but they ordered a 12 since the samples are usually a bit stretched out, and the 12 actually fit me perfect.
ETA: i'm also the only bride who actualy gained weight after ordering her dress, so i'm glad i went w/the 12.

That is exactly what I did! I was actually the heaviest I had ever been when I ordered my dress, and knew I'd be losing a few lbs. However, I have some health issues that can cause my weight to fluctuate.
I fit perfectly into the sample dress and was confident I'd be losing some weight, but my mom insisted that I go up one size JUST IN CASE I gained anything in the course of a year.
Now that it's 6 months later, I've lost about 5 lbs so I expect the sample to be loose when I try it on Saturday (and I know my actually dress will be even looser), but I guess it's still one less thing to worry about.

Yes, it is possible! Some designers run really small -- like Jim Hjelm BM dresses.
I am usually a size 4 (sometimes a 2) and I was slightly heavier when I was dress shopping, I'd say a 6. I fit perfectly into the size 10 sample dress and we ordered a 12 just in case.
I don't care what the number says, I just want my dress to fit me properly. It seems like a ploy to make people order larger sizes and then hit them with an extra fee.

not even close. i'm a street size 4/6, ordered my gown in 10. i guess the gowns just run small.

I ordered the size I tried on there. The top is huge but is a lil snug on the butt. They said if I were to wear Spanx, it would be fine. I do plan on losing weight though beforehand, and I already have since then, so i think i'll be fine.
Actual size wise though. I'm between an 8 and 10 in street clothes and they ordered me a 12. I was so mad

I ordered my dress according to my measurements, but it was a size larger then I wear. I wanted to order it smaller since I am loosing weight ( down 12, id like to loose another 20 ) , but they fought me on that, since it is always easier to make a dress smaller then bigger
The assured me that the dress can be altered up to 4 sizes ( or 40 pounds ) so I should be fine

I feel ya on that... I normally wear a 4 or a 6 in dresses, and the gown that fit me was a 10. But I wasn't too bummed b/c I know that bridal gown sizes are totally out of whack.
