Did you order your dress your true size? (POLL) (EDIT: not your street size, but the size you were measured to be)

Original post by bluegreen08

I've heard about people ordering their dresses too small and then dieting like crazy to fit into them. What did you do?

When I say 'my size' I mean whatever size you were measured to be, not your street size. My dress size is way bigger than my street size!

I ordered my size though it's a little big for me.

I tried on the 12 in the store and it's a bit tight so I ordered the 14 which I know is going to be big but I'd rather them take it in than to let it out...my street size is also much smaller than that.

I actually ordered my street size I was inbetween sizes and actually ordered down. . .only because I was so close (like 1 1/2 inches in the waist and 1 inch in the bust)

I think most people usually have to order up a size or 2 from their normal size.

I ordered my true size, and right now it fits perfectly...but I can't gain ANY weight. I am hoping to lose 5lbs or so before the wedding.

I ordered it larger just slightly only because I wasn't sure if i would actually drop the weight off. It had to be taken in a lot the problem is the woman took my dressin WAY to much. I am still wondering if she ever let it out a bit for me (finding out wens).

I always say safer to have it larger then smaller!

i actually ordered mine 1 size bigger than what my measurements were. They suggested this so this way it can fit my chest fine and then the'll take in the rest on the stomach and waist. Its easier to order bigger and take it in rather than ordering smaller and letting it out.

I didn't order my gown from a dress shop, I purchased an original gown from the designer herself, as is. When I purchased it, it fit me perfectly, so it'll prob have to be taken in a little.

my measurements are smaller then the smallest size demetrios makes - im about 2 inches tinier in the bust, waist and hips than their size 2 and they dont make a size 0 so i guess ill need a lot of alterations

i am a size 2/4 and had to order a size 6 dress- it fits like a perfect glove- just lots and lots hemming (i am real short) & bustle strange some designers sizes ranged completely different most dresses i was averaging a size 6 some i tried were a 10 so it truly varies

DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED WITH THIS..THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I HAD WITH PARADISE BRIDAL..I GO INTO IT MORE IN MY REVIEW..

THEY ORDERED MY DRESS 5 SIZES BIGGER THEN WHAT I WEAR BECAUSE THE GIRL WHO TOOK MY MEASUREMENTS MESSED UP BIG TIME

IT COST ME $500 FOR ALTERATIONBECAUSE IT NEEDED TO BE TAKEN DOWN 4 SIZES AND TE HEAVY EMBROIDERY E DRESS HAD THE WHOLE DRESS PRACTICALLY HAD TO BE REMADE

I am 0-2 and they ordered a 2. However, when I went back to check about 2 months later b/c I felt so nervous about the tiny size, I was told they actually ended up ordering a 4 to accomodate chest as that measurement was borderline. Makes me feel better, I just hope it's not TOO big.
