Did you send invites out for the Rehersal dinner or did you just call them? Also....

My parents have paid for every single thing so far for our wedding. Inlaws want no part at all. The next thing is the Rehersal Dinner. Do I send invitations out and note given by the parents of the bride or do I just call the people in the bridal party? I want to keep the R.D small just my parents his parents (who I doubt will attend because I'm serious they want no part) and the bridal party - not to include their significant others this will be 15 people or do you think I should include their significant others?? Don't know that's why I need your help. Thanks!!

fmil is sending out rehearsal dinner invites (i hope)

we are inviting bridal party and their significant others (if they are seriously involved- not just someone random for the sake of bringing a date) to the dinner. i've seen it done either way. 3 of 5 of my BMs are coming from va and fl with their boyfriends (who are also my friends) so that is why they are being invited to the dinner.

i think they'd understand if you weren't able to invite the sig others.

have you already sent out your invitations? would you want to include the invites for RD in these to the people you'd invite? you could print them on your computer if you get card stock paper.

you can get 4 x 6 card stock at office max and staples for cheap.

I don't think RD invites are really neceassary but nice if you have the time and money to do them.

I think it would be nice to invite SO's but again, it's not required. I think most people would use their discretion about bringing just any ole person to a small dinner party like the RD.

We are sending out RD invites, altho the BP knows all about it. Probably mail them about 2-3 weeks beforehand cuz we need them to RSVP.

We have a similar situation where FIs aren't contributing in any way, shape or form. I had no problem giving the only person paying besides us (My Mom) top billing on all invitations. But Moms doesn't want me to have any future drama w/the inlaws so she suggested everything come from us, as if we're paying in full/doing all the inviting. Just a thought. :)

FMIL is not doing invites. Guess she doesn't realize that my family has no idea where she lives. So I have to give directions to everyone. I tried to talk to FH about it, but he doesn't think they are necessary either. Oh well.

FMIL is paying for our RD...I plan on sending out invites...we will be inviting the BP with SOs, our parents and the rest of FHs siblings...plus whoever is doing readings. It will be rather large, unfortunately (FH is 1 of 7) but fun, nonetheless.

I think it's OK if you don't want to invite SOs...

We sent out e-vites to those whose email addresses we knew. Otherwise we had the parents make phone calls.

I'm sending out invites and I think you should invite SO - the bp should then have enough courtesy to not bring a date if they are going to be 'random'

i think i'm probably going to do invites. we are only having the bridal party and we know all their so's so it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm just going to tell them or call them. To me, a rehursal dinner is supposed to be super casual. Not Mickey D's casual but not something that you send invitations to. But that's just how I feel, it's up to the individual person!

I agree with Maribelle. That's also what we did. We didn't sent invites, we and MIL just invited people.

Oops! I edited the message because I had originally written 'FMIL' but now she's my MIL! Old habits are hard to break!

I did invites but only because we included all of our sibs, wedding party, parents and so's and children. We needed a head count and it was easier for me to track RSVP's.

I sent out RD invites. I invited signifant others/spouses of all BP members/readers, parents, and a few out of town aunts/uncles that came in for the wedding. If my grandmothers were alive they also would have been invited to the RD. All of my siblings were in the BP so that was not an issue for us.

My brother and sister hosted our RD for us, which was a beautiful wedding gift for us. We had to pay for the entire wedding ( or 95% of it) so we didn't know how on Earth we would do a RD too.The invite read Mr. Jonathan XX and Ms. Tammy XX invite you to a rehersal dinner in honor of the happy couple ......
And I was glad to have people know who our hosts were, since I still feel that my in-laws should have helped with the RD, if even in a small way.
