Did you use a florist recommended by your reception venue?

Why or why not?
Do you think they're more expensive - and can they really do a better job than other florists in general?

THANKS!

No, I went to visit a lot of florists and picked out John from Flower Michele - I didn't like any of the ones my hall recommended.

well at the time they weren't a house vendor, but they became one after we booked them coincidentally...

I HAD to use a florist on my venues recommended list and they were the biggest problem throughout my planning and wedding day. Im still annoyed with their mistakes.

Vendors PAY huge fees to be on those lists...not to mention the kickbacks they give to the halls, etc.. Some of the recommended florists happen to be quite good but there is really no correlation between quality and being recommended by a reception site.

We were *required* to use one of two florists. They are both rather expensive, which I was unhappy about, but I loved Glen Island so...

Yes but by accident! lol I just happened to love this florist and I booked them over a year after when I booked the hall so I didnt even remember they were the house vendor!! But they arent the house vendor anymore so does that still count?! lol

you have to be careful of house vendors. they aren't necessarily better or recommended. Often the vendors pay a fee to the recption hall to be on 'recommended' list. it's nothing more than advertising!

Nope. There were several very reputable florists with huge operations that were on my recommended vendor list. I looked through their websites and spoke with many of them, and they weren't to my liking. I went with a smaller florist who is really passionate about what he's doing, and I'm very happy with them so far.

I did. They were slightly more expensive from what I've heard but their work is amazing and they're onsite so it's much easier to go through them than try and find yet another vendor on my own.

We looked at two of the florists that my hall recommends, but we wound up going with John from Flower Michele.
