Did you wear a slip? (MICI are you?)

Original post by Future Mulligan

Mici - are you wearing one?

did anyone NOT wear one? i have another fitting next week and i think im going to tell them i dont want to wear the slip...first off, it was the smallest one they had and it kept falling down - during the fitting it was hanging out from under the dress....i asked if she could sew it into the dress (my FSIL swears hers was sewn in) and she said no....well, if its not sewed in i dont want to wear it - its going to be falling down the whole time....i was just standing and it was falling.....and it was tied TIGHT......

anyone else have this problem?

im not sure if mine needs one - but you want to know what - i dont think it needs one - at first i wanted the dress to be really big and poofy but the closer its getting the less i want something like that.....i dont think the slip made it that much fuller - especially since it was just hanging on me

i dont its weird bc i see many girls on here ordering one before their dress even comes in. My dress was WAAAYYY poofier than i even thought it would be. My sample had 1 layer of crinoline i think so wasnt really poofy at all. OMG when my dress came in it took over most of the dressing room and if you ever saw say yes to the dress then you see how big those dressing rooms are when your dress comes in. I even had to take layers out of my dress and look how big it still was lol. So if a slip is used for the poofy effect i say ONLY if your dress doesnt have enough crinoline but most dresses come with or should come with it. For some dresses i guess you need it but depends on your dress.

My dress has a ton of crinolin but before I even purchased it the women at the store said it was up to me but I would most likely need to purchase a slip to go with it. When it came in I brought my sister's slip with me and tried it on. The offered to alter the slip for me but I asked to try it on with a new slip and it was a world of a difference. So i bought the new one. Just because a dress needs a slip does not mean that the dress isn't doing what it is supposed to do. Different designers do it differently.
Nicole -- your slip should fit. If it doesn't then they are selling you the wrong thing.

do you have a pic of before and after with the slip? just curious bc i always thought it was for poof so curious to see the effect it has. Does the bottom of the dress just sit differently, is that what it is?

I had to get crinoline and whatever else underneath taken out so for me it was too much so thats why the though of adding didnt even cross my mind, i thought mine was a bit too much so my concern was how can we take this down a bit now. I also am probably the only bride on here who ONLY wore boy shorts under her dress, i didnt even wear a bra but thats bc the top was taken in when i had taken my bra off bc it was showing too much so wanted to see it without it and then when i went back with my bra it was too tight on top lol.

No I don't have pics but I will take them at my next fitting. I am not wearing a bra either -- only boy shorts oh and thigh highs -- but that is because i can't do closed toe shoes without a stocking. I had a friend who wore NOTHING under her gown.

OH WOW nothing hahaha, i would've been so scared. Yeah i was VERY worried about doing no bra at first. I dont even walk around my house without a bra, i just cant. I said theres no way this is going to work and got nervous but it was my fault that i took off my bra at the fitting when they were measuring me. BUT luckily the fitted the top so well that it actually worked.

I wore a slip because I wanted my dress to be puffy and stay that way. It was very comfortable and it got the job done!

i didnt wear a slip. I didnt need one, my dress had enough crinoline and whatever else it had underneath lol that it stayed fine and the shape was fine. I didnt even try one on or anything

if your dress doesn't need it anyway, then don't worry about it. I, personally, am wearing one, but that's because my dress just doesn't look right without it. I had it on without the slip at first, but once i tried it on WITH the slip underneath, it just looked SOOOO much better! A lot more full, ya know? But a lot of dresses don't even need it.

I didn't. They kept asking me, are you sure you don't want just the wimpy slip? But NO I didn't I wanted my dress to be a slim a-line and it was Do what makes you happy!

No, I'm not wearing one. There is a lining in the dress to protect my legs from that itchy material I do on the other hand need to go out and buy a bra to wear!
