Did your FH go with you to register?

Ok ladies - here's the deal, how many of you had your FH with you to register? My guy absolutely DISPISES shopping. its like pulling teeth to get him to shop even for clothes for himself.....soo, i'm having a mini battle with him now to get him to go. I've tried the 'they have a cool scanner for you to play with' ' what about beer mugs etc...' nothings working - so i'm wondering...did you have your FH with you? is it common that guys don't want to go? I feel like the gifts are for BOTH of us so he should be there...but he just says 'honey you are so good with this stuff you should do it'

what do you think?

I am in the same boat as you guys. FH was really looking forward to it and we had fun. I had to go armed with snacks though -- when FH needs to eat he needs to eat so I had to keep his energy up. And I didn't get annoyed once when he needed a cigarette break -- usually i get mad when he leaves me places to go smoke. We did it a few times and want to go to one place. I find him adding things online too!

lol see im like your FH, im the one who gets tired and it becomes too much for me lol.

Tell your FH to pack snacks and cigarettes if you smoke. It kept him much happier and fun -- he did enjoy it but once he was done for the day he was done -- it does get tiring!

yeah we both smoke so were on the same page with that lol, i usually drink a redbull it helps me lol. Yeah we didnt realize it but we had been there for almost 3 hours registering, but we both kinda were like ok we're hungry now lets go

Yes FH and i will go together, but i did spend a day with FMIL at Fortunoffs to get some ideas b/c im clueless when it comes to fine china and what exactly i need.

we went together, he was actually really into it .. but I don't think its that big a deal that he doesn't wanna go, y not bring your mom or BM?

we went together in store a few times.
since then i've just been adding things online.
i doubt he has any idea what's on the registries at this point.
when he was told he couldn't register for batman stuff or video games he kind of lost intrest.

ETA: he LOOOOVED the scanner gun thingy. he'd go again just to play with it. however, i had to take it away from him b/c he was registering for EVERYTHING just to play with it.

This totally happened with my FH too - he was NUTS with the scan gun! By the fourth store, he got a little bored of it.

He went to one store with me...after that experience, I realized that it was more like root canal for him.

I registered by myself at 2 additional stores.

i started up our registry online and we went last week to update it. FH was bored but he enjoyed the scanner a bit. he couldnt wait to finish though.

OMG im shocked at all of your responses! FH is SOOOO EXCITED to register!!! Maybe more than I am!!!!

He is so excited and he can't wait to register for a really great knife set and we both love to cook so he is excited to get all new fancy pots, a wok, BBQ stuff and all kitchen gadgets.......

FH was looking forward to it too and really helped with picking everything out. Basically anytime you tell FH were gonna show ppl a bunch of things to buy us, then he'll be there lol

OOOPS! i meant most respones not all of them

im just surprised b/c i thought that registering would be one of the more fun things for the groom to do.....i dont know, maybe my FH is weird - we are equally involved with the wedding and planning and we like to do everything together so maybe that is why we are so excited to register....we are waiting until it gets close though so we have something to look foward to next summer.....my FH loves kitchen stuff but he has very expensive taste when it comes to that stuff - he wants the best of the best pots and knives and seriously they are

You're not weird - my guy is just allergic to shopping! :) he also loves to cook - will comment on a great gadget etc...but alas i think i've lost this one :) congrats on having a register buddy though

we registered together and then I added odds and ends myself. We don't live together and will need everything so I put pretty much put everything on. I figure it will come in handy this Christmas espeically since we will move in early '08.

i am going to register after my engagement party which is the first weekend of december so i will prob wait until after the holidays....
but we discussed this and FH definitly wants to be part of the process...it is gifts for both of us and he enjoys being part of the whole wedding planning

FH came with me to register. he isnt much of a shopper but this def has to do with him, its what we both want and need when we have our own place. I def think its important for him to have a say and Im glad he wanted to come. BUt he has been really great about the wedding stuff he comes with me for everything wedding related.

FH said he doesn't care what plates we have as long as there's food on them.

I went a couple of times by myself and a couple of times with my mother. A lot I did online. If FH came w/ me neither of us would have been happy.

if we had gone together we would NOT be getting married right now - if he doesnt want to do something and I force him to do it. . . forget it - its like a HUGE fight so its not worth it to me!

i went once with my sister and checked out the important stuff then i came home and did the whole thing online

he doesnt care about what dishes we have etc. and its not worth the hassle!

Thats my life, I will probably go with my mom and then show him the stuff online

FH came with me. I felt he should go since it was going to be our stuff. He didn't want to go at first but had the best time doing it. I still pretty much picked everything out...haha But he loved it. I was shocked and I think he was also.
