Didn't make minimum, trying to find alternate solutions

Didn't make minimum, trying to find alternate solutions

We sent out invites and the RSVP has come and gone, and we won't be making our minimum by a lot.

I didn't invite my coworkers (small company, you invite 1 you have to invite all) becuase we had a lot of people invited and we couldn't manage it, so I didn't send them invites. Now that we have more than enough space, I am trying to find a way to invite them. Though being so close to the wedding I don't want to seem rude.

So here are the questions:
Do you think I should invite them now or forget it and take the loss?
If I do invite them, what would be a tactful and proper way of asking them?

Any suggestions would be helpful and very much appreciated.

TIA

What you could do is be honest and tell them that you didn't make the minimum and would love to have them as your guests but under one condition: no gifts.

I almost had to do this. IMO, no matter what you say, anyone you invite with your date so close will look like an afterthought. That's why I say the no gift thing above.

OR

Can you work with your hall to apply the money lost for your lack of guests towards upgrades? Or at the very least, you should be able to wrap those extra meals up and take them home.

My apologies if I sound harsh, I really don't mean to.

If you do decide to invite them I would not say it is bc you didnt make your minimum.

I would just hand deliver the invitation and say something like 'unfortunately fiance and I had a very large number of family members we were required to invite and couldnt extend the invitation initially, but Id be honored if you would consider attending my wedding..... '

I agree... with this suggestion

Also, the invitation lady we used (whose been in the business, although not in NYC, for quite a number of years) told us that 'ettiquite wise,' it is tyipcial to send and inivation 4-6 weeks before the event date--especially if they are not out of town.

She mentioned that more people have been sending invites earlier and earlier...so it seems to me that a month is completely legit (esp for in-town guests). I see your wedding is still a month away, so while you don't have much time-- it is still not exceptionally close/tacky. Plus, it seems like they would understand--

You are not harsh at all. I like straight answers. It gives me what other people could think and I am all for that.

Very well put...I like that and may just use it. Thanks for the opinions ladies. Very helpful as always.

Adding my two cents: I just got invited to a wedding last week for Aug 18 which is a month away, so I think you can still invite the coworkers using the suggestion above.

I did that....I invited a lot of people in the last 5 weeks before. And I insisted on no gifts...they didn't listen, but that way no one felt obligated.
