Hi girls.. so i know a lot of us are doing the 30 day shred, going to the gym, etc. etc. how are you guys changing your everday eating habits? i dont like to call it a 'diet' because i don't want it to be temporary. Anyone making minor adjustments and seeing results?

Re: DIET changes?
Things I always do-
skim or soy milk plain coffee/tea (no latte, frappucino, whipped cream, etc etc) lean white meats like chicken or ground turkey (instead of red meats) low fat or light everything- cheese, cream cheese, snacks, salad dressing especially whole grain breads and pastas lots of protein (beans, fish, meat, soy) watch sugar PORTIONS!!! when you eat out, immediately pack up about HALF of what you are given. Ask for salad dressing on the side and put only enough JUST to taste.
Little adjustments during the day add up quick. For example, leaving the slice of cheese off your sandwich saves about 100 calories. Don't add sauces or gravies, add flavor with mustard or soy sauce for example instead.
Teach yourself to eat not until you are full, but until you are no longer hungry. Try to stick to an eating 5x a day schedule- this helps regulate hunger and avoid binging.

Re: DIET changes?
I started WW about a month ago. I have been seeing the results and I am pretty happy with the plan. I can still eat things I want, within moderation.

I am trying to eat more frequently so I am not starving when I finally sit down to eat. Other than that I am sticking to my regular diet.

Re: DIET changes?
5 meals a day...high protein and veggies at each meal. I agree with autumns previous post but it is also important to have healthy fats in your diet. Avocado, peanut butter (natural), almonds, olive oil etc. are all healthy and necessary parts of a balanced diet. Carbs should be whole grain and natural (brown rice, oatmeal, sweet potato etc.) and should be eaten at 2 of your five meals on weight train. Days that you lift weights you should have more calories than days you don't lift weights.
These are just some basic dieas..if anyone wants info I am always excited to help..I love training and nutrition!! I actually think about going back to school and starting a new career lol

I am doing weight watchers and its amazing cause you are able to still eat but count points. I do it online so I am able to track what I eat and count points. Plus you get 35 extra points for the week for drinks and going out to dinner on weekends. Try it out! I found that to be most successful cause you are not deprived ....works best if you do it in conjunction with exercise ( i hate it )

Weight Watchers is GREAT!!! I have been on SO many diets and this has worked the best for me. Most importantly it is a diet that is easy to maintain. It is the most practical and realistic!

When I first starting working out I tried to eat healthy but didnt really know how. Three months after I joined WW and the weight came off SO quickly- i lost a total of 55 lbs and im currently maintaining that weight. I highly reccomend WW! It's become a complete lifestyle change for me.

I think its the easiest 'diet' because you can still eat what you want. As long as you stay without your points- you can have whatever you want. It's the least restrictive diet there is.

Re: DIET changes?
Maybe in the last year to year and a half, I've drastically cut my sugar intake. I used to take 4 TABLEspoons of sugar in my coffee, now I'm down to barely half a teaspoon. I also haven't eaten a hot pocket in I can't tell you how long. Hooooooot pockets. (Jim Gaffigan? Anyone? lol)
Honestly I don't eat super great still. I eat potato chips for lunch at work, and candy-ish granola bars. I try to eat healthy when I can, but it's hard when you don't buy your own food. I think once I'm on my own it'll be a lot easier, because I'll be in control of the household's food.

Re: DIET changes?
I've given up french fries and any kind of chips until my wedding day. If I go out to eat, I get broccoli or something on the side.
I also heard from John Tesh on Intelligence for your Life on the way home that if you take a calcium supplement, it helps weight loss. Also, drinking only water cuts out a TON of calories.
