Hi Girls, It's too late for me (12 days?), but I ran into my old boss and we were talking about dieting and i was telling her how I just basically eat one meal a day right now and live at the gym. She said she lost 40 pound is 15 weeks on herbalife? She is now a distributor. She said with all the vitamins and stuff that she had so much energy it was crazy. ANYWAY...just wanted to let you guys know. I plan to give it a try after the honeymoon, but wanted to give you girls a heads up.... sounds good for those trying to loose a bunch of weight before your big day! Good luck to all...I've probably said it before, but you girls have been really great with advice and calming words! Thanks again for everything! christine

Re: Dieting?
Considering that 95% of people who lose a significant amout of weight through 'diets' will gain it back (plus more), a crash diet is not an alternative for many people. I can't imagine working so hard to lose weight only to gain it back. To be honest, IMO, the only way to reshape your body is NOT losing pounds alone but exercise which tones your body and enables you to lose inches.

Re: Dieting?
Tell me about it. I work out only 3 days a week. One half hour of stairmaster, one half hour of elliptical trainer, 1 half hour of weigh training (alternating muscle groups each gym visit) followed by 500 crunches. I HATE EVERY MINUTE OF IT but if I don't do it, then I see my future in front of me. Mom is a overweight, a diabetic, has heart disease and aggravated arthritis from obesity. This was not an option for me. I have too much quality life to live.

500 crunches?!! I don't know if I've even done a total of 500 crunches in my life!

Re: Dieting?
I don't do them in a row. They are either in sets of 50 or 100 with rest periods in between each set. They also vary with type. They are not straight up and down crunches. If you get yourself some music with a good beat, it helps them go by much faster. Truth be told, I am not rock hard by any means. Excess skin from weight loss takes a long time to go away and thats what I am dealing with. However, my abdominal muscles are strong and help during those oh-so-intimate and semi-acrobatic times. Just kidding

Re: Dieting?
I am doing the South Beach Diet right now for a week so I'm doing phase I. (I want to lose 10 pounds before my wedding date). I can already see the difference and I'm not starving myself either. I have another week to go and so far it doesn't feel like a major change in my life. You need to eat every 3 hours..but you need to eat smaller portions so that your metabolism is always working. I also started walking during my lunch hour. I walk 20 blocks one way (up Madison Avenue) and then walk back 20 more blocks (Down 5th Avenue) for a total of 40 blocks three times a week. Lately I haven't had the discipline for the gym. But this is working and before I know it, I reached my 20th block mark. Probably because there are so many people around and the stores etc I think you would definitely benefit from eating smaller meals than only 1 meal. You are actually doing the opposite and your body is storing up more fats. And don't worry...you are going to look beautiful on your wedding day no matter what. Good Luck !!

Re: Dieting?
Try the famous 3 day diet in which you lose 10 pounds-then after 4 days of just eating normally, you can do it again for another 3 days to lose another 10 pounds. I have done it and it works. But you must, must , must do it TO THE LETTER! P.S.-you can eat vanilla ice cream! I swear it's true and it works. It was designed by the Arizona Heart Institue for overweight patients undergoing heart surgery in order for them to lose weight and minimize the risk of complications. I promise you it works-I told my former coworkers about it and they too, lost weight! I don't have the link but if you go to google (the best search engine, I'm convinced) and experiment by typing in 3 day diet, scarsdale diet, Arizona heart institute, you'll find it. If you can't, FM me and I wil try to find it at home. Good luck! But remember, you are the bride and will be the most beautiful person on the planet on your wedding day so don't fret!

See this is what makes me nervous. This program was designed for a specific use in mind, patients who are undergoing major major surgery....not necessarily for the general public who want to drop some weight and do it over and over again.
I'm sorry, I don't mean to take this subject personally, but I really try to approach weight loss and diet from an overall health/way of life perspective. It is amazing how much damage we can potentially do to our bodies by taking pills or doing crash diets...and I am just concerned for us ladies!

Re: Dieting?
Regarding Herbalife, I used to work for the Bureau of Consumer Protection for the federal government several years ago and Herbalife and other companies like that were sometimes the target of investigations over unsubstantiated advertising claims (meaning, they didn't have the scientific evidence to back up their claims). It was in the late 1990s, so I don't know whether they have substantiated claims now, but I don't think the Food and Drug Administration has oversight of herbal supplements. They are a largely unregulated industry. To me, that is scary and I would not want to be using herbal supplements that haven't been tested.

Re: Dieting?
Wow..apparently this was very controversial! Unfortunately, I have always worked out, and have always had trouble losing weight. I'm not psychotic about it. Have come to accept it. I too have done weight watchers, and it is my diet of choice for long term. Between the holiday and being an accountant working till about 8 every night, it's been hard to maintain a weightloss program. Just posted the Herbalife for those who were interested in researching because i've heard good things from a few people...and also for others that have trouble losing weight and don't have alot of time before the wedding.

Re: Dieting?
I tried Herbalife a few years ago and the pills I had to take for it made me very sick. Bad stomachaches all the time. It was awful and I only lost 5 pounds. I started Weight Watchers in January and have lost 11 pounds so far. I can still eat what I want (in limited portions) and I can earn points back by doing excersise.

My mother did herbalife a few years ago and got so so sick from it. Vomitting, neausous, etc.. She didnt leave the bathroom for 3 days!
I guess she lost weight... but only from throwing up! yuck!

Re: Dieting?
Wow , good to know! WW is really the best thing out there... i have tried a hundred different diets from nutisystem to la weightloss, to south beach. While the others will work, WW allows a steady slow weight loss while letting you actually enjoy food...carbs and all. If i had another few months, i'd be signing up again!

WW sounds good but I dont have time to count everything I eat.
