Weight Watchers is great! I love it. You can eat whatever you want, and still lose weight. I also do Richard Simmons tapes 5 days a week (I know he's annoying...but the tapes are a good workout). Don't give up....if I can do it....so can you

Re: Dieting

Not dieting! Changing, not dieting!, and just getting more active. Nothing serious right away, just fidgeting while watching TV, taking the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator, taking 2 steps at a time instead of one (good for the butt), doing calf raises while waiting on the subway, maybe a couple of times a week in a workout class you like or walking around a local track.....working out is important, but if you push yourself without first finding the right nutritional balance (not a temporary diet, but your personal permanent food changes) that works and when you don't really want to, working out will not be fun and you'll quit.

I took 30 lbs off in a year, and I've kept it off (It's been about a year and a half now, I do fluctuate about 5-8 lbs in the winter). I went from a 10/12 to a 2/4. I'm not always buff, and I have bloated days, and I eat pizza and chocolate (I ate chocolate every day, but there's a secret to it fir me-I ate one or two small pieces of organic dark chocolate once or twice a day, it still only adds up to about 1/3 of a serving a day and it has some fiber), but I stay between a 2 and a 4.

E-mail me at [email protected], maybe I can offer some personal advice (free of course he he:) based on your lifestyle and likes/dislikes.

Re: Dieting

Julybride is right! You need to commit to a lifestyle change, unless you are happy with constant fluctuations and crash dieting. which who likes that, or feeling horrible when having to get dresses, and besides it takes a toll on your body and your weight keeps climbing higher and higher after each 'diet'. Check out the slim down board for soem support and ideas.

Commit to eatting 'healthier', balanced meals. Remember you eat to live NOT, LIVE TO EAT! Fuel your body with healthy foods and it will show throught your attitutude, skin, energy level and waist. If you are consistent in daily exercise and healthy eating, then it's ok to allow some 'treats' into your diet. this helps you from feeling deprived.

If you have a hard time sticking to exercise, try grouop fitness classes, a buddy system or personal trainer

Good luck, and if I can help more, ask.

cut down on the carbs..dont stop eating them completely, just try not eating bread & pasta. I've lost a few pounds from doing that, and i'm not killing myself in the process! I let myself eat pizza or pasta once or twice during the week...try it! it works!

Re: Dieting

I am doing Weight Watchers. I've been doing it since May and have lost about 23 pounds. It's great because you can eat anything you want as long as it's within your points range. Check out their website... and good luck!

Weight Watchers.

I love it. You can have real food at any time. Its not a diet, but more of a way in developing healthier eating habbits. It helps you in food portions and really puts into perspective of what you are eating.

I still have my mcdonalds, go out to diner, and my snacks, and as long as i stick to my points I am in good shape.

I also do yoga, walk, and lift light weights. Every little bit helps.

I have tried everything and WW has been the best. Their is a guy who lose 245 pounds in my meeting, and a woman who has lost 100 pounds and still wants to loose some more. Both look fantastic.

I have lost 25 pounds to date and FI has lost 50

You all gave some excellent advice here, and I just have to ask Julybride444, what is the secret with chocolate you referred to? You can't make a statement like that without me saying, 'Wait, back up.' LOL!

Thanks.

Re: Dieting

Yeah, what's up with the chocolate????

As for dieting...I just cut my portion size down. and I cut out some carbs...not all together. I just don't eat them as much. I lay off pasta and bread.

Re: Dieting

I added the 'secret' to my post.

It's simple. I buy a bar of organic extra dark chocolate (it's very satisfying b/c it's very strong), and I eat it over the course of a week. It has fiber, is satisfying, and I end up eating about 230 calories total of chocolate over the course of the ENTIRE week, and it keeps me from grabbing things like cookies or less healthy things.

Real dark chocolate (it has little high fat dairy) is healthy in the sense that in moderation it offers antioxidants, some fiber, and can cut cravings.

Weight Watchers!!!!!! I lost 45 pounds in about 6 1/2 months. If I can do it, anybody can. I plan on losing about 35 more before my wedding. They truly teach you how to eat in the real world. It is a lifestyle change, not a diet. I love to eat and I don't feel deprived at all. I still eat fast food, chocolate, junk. Of course, I have to eat veggies and fruits too. It is all about portion control. I am willing to shout it from the roof tops how much I love WW!!

Weight watchers is great. Walking away the pounds tapes work okay and i know friends who swear by Curves.

Re: Dieting

ive been hearing about curves also. Its a circuit training place.. you finish your workout in 30 minutes. they have machines that are adjusted to fit your body type. you spend a certain amount fo time on a machine and then an announcement comes on saying its time to move to the next machine!!! im going to try it.. i dont have to sign a 1 year contract and it snot as $$ as NYSC

i also agree, its not about dieting but changing your eating habits. i was on atkins and i was worse in the long run. sure i lost almost 11 pounds in two weeks but when i went off and started getting back into carbs little by little i gained it all back plus some..

im also going to try weight watchers the point system.. is there any way to get the weight watchers points book without joining? i only need to lose a few pounds and dont need the weigh ins.
thanks!

Re: Dieting

I have done weight watchers and atkins. Bith have worked for me! I lost a total of 30 lbs since march.
I have abot 25 more lbs left.
What ever you decide to do it has to be a life change though in order to keep it off.
