Diets...chicken, NWR

I bought ziploc steam bags today because I decided FH and I need to eat better. I've gained 60lbs since we've been together and he's gained almost 40. So, I decided to steam chicken. I put Mrs. Dash and lemon pepper on the chicken and lemons and onions in the steam bag. It was kinda dull....

Does anyone know of a good low calorie spice rub (dry) that I could season chicken with before steaming it?

BTW -- The steamer bags are AMAZING. The chicken may have had much flavor, but it was soooo juicy.

I usually grill my chicken instead of steaming it. I'm just not a big fan of steamed chicken. But if you marinate chicken in fat free italian dressing overnight then grill it, it turns out amazing.

I've also turned to baking breaded chicken instead of frying it. So I'll still make chicken cutlets, but they're a lot healthier when they're baked.

ita...i love steaming fish but imo chicken just doesnt come out well...i also think there is a risk of salmonella...

i use both lsorrents recipes. I also like to brown chicken in a pan lightly in pam and mix a teaspoon of cornstarch with chicken stock. Then pour it back into the pan and add capers and mushrooms and stir until it thickens a bit. Then put the chicken pack in the pan for about 5 minutes.

I also like grilled chicken with fat free balsamic and chopped tomatoes/basil.

As an alternative to chicken you can also do lean turkey meatloaf or turkey burgers

now that the weather is nice, i would grill it on the bbq....use some brown sugar, paprika, salt, chili powder and pepper. then poke some holes in the chicken with a fork, rub the spices on and let it sit in the fridge for awhile, then grill - hth!

My big secret is Balsamic vinegar. You marinate them for about 30 min and viola... Juicy excellent chicken!
