Difference between Jr. and II??

My FH's father is named after his father (FH's grandfather). So, on the invitation should it Blah Blah Jr. or Blah Blah II?

My FH is named after his father and it's Jr.
I don't know if it can be either though....

I used Jr. I know people who are the 3rd, and thats when I use III.

Ask him Everyone chooses something different, or ask one of his family members (if his parents are alive check with him, or his wife).

I THINK that if his first and middle names are the same as his father's, then he's a II. If only their first names are the same, then he's a jr.

My FI has the same first and middle name as his father and he is a Jr. Our son would be the III.
I didn't think people used II.

I looked on the Crane website and it said that if a son is named after his father than he is a Jr. If he was named after his grandfather then it is II. People think you can use them interchangeably, but you're not supposed to.

I also would just ask him. Some do Jr., some do II. I don't think that there is a right or wrong way.
