Same packages...basic 5 hour w/ DJ and MC...no lights, no props...one company quoted $1025, one quoted $1200 and one quoted $1700 ? All three are companies well known? Could they be that different? So confused? I really dont want to spend the extra money but do you get what you pay for?

Re: Differences in DJ prices??
I had the same problem when I went. We looked at 2 places, both pretty well known and reputable...for 2 guys, lighting, and video screens one was 7k and one was 3k! I liked the less expensive one much more for the one on one personalization and quality (plus it fit much nicer into our budget). FH wanted to call the higher place and ask them what they could possbily charge so much more for??!! Thank goodness I talked him out of it! Good luck!

IF you are lucky, you can get a great deal by waiting til 6 months before the date. By then, if the date is open, they can't lose by giving you a great deal. Mine is $800 cuz it was either that or they didn't get my business...and since August is just around the corner, well.....and mine is 5:30 - 11:30 pm on a Sunday night, which probably makes it cheaper.

I understand. I guess it comes down to how you feel with the company when you meet with them. Be sure to meet the person who will be DJ/MC your wedding so you can be 100% sure. It may help to ask about an expo that they will be at to see them perform. Even though every expo is the same and do the same stuff, you might have the opportunity to get a specific 'feeling' from one then the other. I chose my DJ based on budget and personal referral. I also visited one DJ that had everything computerized vs. using CD's. It is really up to the way you click with them and the $$$$. Good Luck.

If you don't mind me asking, who are you using as your MC from Absolute?

Re: Differences in DJ prices??
I can tell you what Vinny from High Voltage told me. There are a few reasons his prices are so low. But the biggest one is that he has no overhead. He works out of his house, so he doesn't have to pay rent on an office or something. That doesn't mean you are getting any less of a DJ. And after we had to cancel our first DJ, and forfeit our deposit, the lower prices Vinny offers were a welcome surprise. I definitely suggest you check him out. And don't be afraid to ask the other companies why their prices are so much higher. Some of their answers may surprise you. Good luck.

I second High Voltage, I booked him for my wedding and was very pleased with his charges. He was the only reasonable priced vendor I have.

Wow that seems high for no lights and no props, but maybe its the date of the wedding. I think ours was $1500 with a dj, MC, lights and all the props. 4 hour recption, 1 hour cocktail hour (Which is a whole seperate rig.) We added the percussionist so that bumped it up another $500.

Re: Differences in DJ prices??
Vinny from High Voltage expln the same info to me... but I guess you can compare DJ's to anything that we buy...like why are some brands more expensive than others... like why is a coach bag more expensive than nine west... it's just the name... more $$ doesn't always mean better quality... give Vinny a call... you will LOVE his prices and reputagtion... he's great!
