I was thinking about picking out the designer, length and color and having my girls just pick out whatever dress they want. I want them to feel comfortable and beautiful. Im letting them choose how they want there own hair and shoes. Is that going to look weird though if they are wearing different dresses? I just dont know how I could possibly pick out one dress for 4 girls with different body types and personalities.

Re: Different Bridesmaid dresses?
This is really the usual thing to do now and most people I know had their bridesmaids pick their own dress. You are limited to the same designer and line of dresses because of the colors matching, but otherwise if you find a place that carries a whole line that you like, it works out great!

Just make sure that the fabric of the dresses is the same. My friend had a HUGE bridal party and some of us were in satin and the others were in chiffon and it looks funky in some of the pictures. I plan on going with all different dresses though

THIS! I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I'm going shopping in 2 weeks with the girls. I'm a little concerned if some of them want the same dress dress though. I'll post a final decision when we make one!

Ok so I guess the different bridesmaid dresses is what alot of people are doing. I didnt realize it. Im waiting for a book of swatches to come from Alfred Angelo then IM going to see what colors look good against my wedding dress then Im going to go to the bridal shop and see what fabric I like.

Re: Different Bridesmaid dresses?
I'm doing different bm dresses. I have 7girls 2of them my mohs and all diffrent body types. Im going with davids bridal for bm dresses cause they are the cheapest and I don't want them spending an arm and a leg. I told them pick your style long or short idc but it all has to be the same color. They can do whatever hairstyle they want as well and whatever shoes they want as long as its the color i pick. I know that they will look more beautiful if they are comfortable. I don't want them feeling like 'ugh another wedding where I look aweful' hth. Good luck!

Re: Different Bridesmaid dresses?
my girls will all be mismatched, but not in BM dresses. i don't have ANY prereqs for them - just colors from our palette (which is diverse), and any length, fabric, sleeve option, etc is fine with me. i much prefer the look of off-the-rack dresses to BM dresses, and luckily my girls feel the same, plus they don't like the whole having to get to fittings for BM gowns.
one of the best designers of BM dresses I saw to choose your line from, though, was alfred sung - s0 many options from one designer! i highly suggest checking him out!

Re: Different Bridesmaid dresses?
i personally am not a fan of different dresses. it is your day tho so you can do what you want. if you can't decide try taking them dress shopping and see what they come up with. maybe they will surprise you and agree on something

You could always give them a choice between 2 or 3 and they can pick, so that way the dresses will be similar and not like all over the place.
I'm torn on this... I don't want to put anyone in an uncomfortable situation but I also want to look sort of uniformed as well. I have one girl in my party that is larger than the other girls and I don't want to her be uncomfortable if I pick something strapless since everyone else is thin.

As long as its the same designer, color, length and material then the dif dress will look great. I think that is what Ill be doing with my girls. As far as the shoes, just give them a color and let them choose the shoe.

Re: Different Bridesmaid dresses?
My bridesmaid will be in different dresses. I've seen this before and it looks beautiful (plus my girls range in size so they are so happy that they can pick one that is comfortable for them) I told them the designer, the color, the length, and the fabric. I even went to the designers website and searched all the dresses with the same qualities and ended up with 31 dresses from the designer.
and remember, in the end it comes down to what you want

i dont think it will look weird, im considering doing something like this as well! i had a friend who just told all her BMs to wear long black dresses (any designer/fabric) and it honestly looked just fine, and her pics are beautiful
I found this article when I was looking for ideas. It was pretty helpful.
I am giving all my BM's the choice of what dress they want. I told then to get Silver or Charcoal grey (I will probably do the same fabric) and my MOH's (2) Will I told to get an Ice Blue Dress.
I bought these chucky necklaces to bring it all together. They are 3 entangled strands of white pearls, charcoal grey freshwater pearls ,with ice blue crystals. Hoping between that and matching bouquets the look will come together and if it doesn't at least everyone will be happy and comfortable lol.
I am not big on the same dress came color concept, when I look at my pictures I want to see my individual friends and family and their personalities not a unit of bridemaids. Also, I just feel bad asking people to spend so much money on a dress that no one will ever wear again.
