Hi ladies. We did all digital photography for our wedding (I didn't want this originally, but loved the photographer). Has anyone done this? If so, can you tell me how long it took you to get your proofs back?
I'm really getting frustrated. Our lady said 6-8 weeks the day of the wedding, and we still have not received ANYTHING! It will be 10 weeks on Saturday! I called her last week (she owns her own business), she said she was 1/2 way done with them, to call back on 10/9...I called her back on that day, and haven't heard back from her!!!!!
Unfortunately, I have nothing in my contract that states any timeframe...but come on, 10 weeks? For digital????

Ug, I think digital is faster then film, the whole developing process is omitted?? It's not like she is touching up the prints yet, she doesn't even know which ones you want! We used digital (which I think most places do now) and our proofs were ready by the time we got back from the HM! We got married on 9/9 and I pretty much have our album already picked out!!
Maybe this is just a side job for her but I would for sure be a squeaky wheel at this point! That's ridiculous!

My photographer called me the Monday after I came back from my 1 week HM. So... 1 week and he called me.

Wow, she's really making me mad now!! She owns her own photography business, you would think she wouldn't be this crazy. I got married in PA & that's where she's from, so unfortunately I can't just drop by, or I totally would. Thanks ladies!! I knew it was too long, but I just wanted some reassurance. She hasn't even called me back from my message Monday, and we had/have a pretty good relationship, I thought!

i got mine very quickly! i think they were ready 5 days later, but i am out of state so i had my mom bring him the next installment and they were shipped to me... i had my proofs 17 days after (again, i am out of state so there was a little more coordinating necessary)

UGH!!!!!!!
She just called me (finally, after I email her of course!) and says 'sorry, we're so behind...'- don't know who 'we' is, as it's her own business, but whatever....So, when will I receive my pictures? This week?
NO...she will be done retouching them by Friday, THEN she will send them out to the lab in California right away, about a week later they'll be posted on the lab's website to view & order from, then they send the stuff back to her, she looks them over to make sure they're satisfactory, then she sends our proofs & cds, etc. to us. SO, IT WILL BE WEEKS FROM NOW before we get our proofs....probably 12 weeks at least I'm guessing after the wedding!!! When she told me it would only take 6-8 weeks!!!!!
I am sooo frustrated, thanks for letting me vent!

Why is she re-touching them?? They do that after you choose your prints I thought? Did you mention how this is too long to wait and she's making you look bad by sending out your Thank You's so late?? (Not that you will but hey... :)

We are doing digital. We just got our engagement pictures back and they took 2 weeks. I'm not sure how long the wedding ones will be, but I'm sure they won't be much longer than that.
I hope your pictures come in soooooon!

Thanks for all your input & support ladies...I am just really annoyed about the whole situation!!
I don't really know what she means by 'retouching'. We had a smaller wedding, so we only have 450 proofs (which will be more than enough for me!) Maybe because it was a smaller wedding and smaller # of proofs, she's doing all of the color-balancing and everything first? She doesn't have her own lab, so she has to send the work out to CA to have the photos printed she said (they'll print my proofs, but they have to be sent back to her first so she can double-check them!) I guess that way, if she does all the retouching and balancing before she sends them to CA, they're all done, no matter which ones I want.
Who the heck knows what/why she's doing things at this point, I'm just really frustrated

Unfortunatley (or maybe fortunately now ) we're not doing Thank You's through her. Otherwise we could have used that to our advantage to get her to work faster (maybe!)

You're right, and I really do believe that she's really backed up. I really do like her, that's why I haven't been too snotty/rude with her...yet!! It's just getting a little crazy. As it is right now, we'll be lucky if we get our proofs back 3 months after the wedding, and they're all digital!!
