digital vs. film

Hi Girls: Does any of you have experience with digital photography? I am considering using some1 that takes digital images. We get a 'digital' photo album and included in th ephoto package is a cd rom with all the pictures taken that day. Any Pro's, Cons?

i am a picture maniac and thus far am completely against digital pictures--especially for my wedding!
i may consider buying one for personal use sometime in the future, but not now and not for my wedding photographer.
i specifically made sure my photographer didn't use a digital camera. for me nothing beats a PHOTOGRAPH. but that's JMO

DIGITAL is definitely the way to go! film is only a thing of the past...

Just make sure that the digital copies they provide are at a minimum 300 dpi for a 4x6 photo (1800x1200 pixels), increase these numbers for 5x7 and 8x10...

Also find out what format they will provide for you. JPGs are fine for the web and emails, however if you want to print you should see what type of RAW format you can get...

I went back and forth with digital vs. film and ultimately decided film. What I am going to do is own the negatives and scan them into digital format either at a professional lab or myself (the photographer said he’ll can do this for me as well). Now my dilemma is whether or not to have him shoot any black and whites, as one can remove the color from any pictures to digitally create and print black and white.

Our photographer is all digital....they will print up all proofs (they'll filter all the really bad pics...blinks and such), we are getting a CD of our e-pics that we picked from over 100 shots. With digital, you can play...make a color B & W, or the opposite, u can colorize a B & W, and you can do a digital layout where several pics are layered on one page (jennbaby and sonicstef have these types of albums and they are soooo cool)

Because digital photography is fairly new, alot of photographers can't possibly have THAT much experience with it. There is definitely a difference between the techniques used in good digital photography as opposed to film photography. Something to keep in mind when making your decision...

our photographer doesnt use digital for the fact that she feels she cant control shadowing and the color is a lot clearer and crisper in film. in my everyday use and from what i hear a lot of other people use digital because you receive your proofs back that day on disk and you can view everything, and they can play around more with the pics ( add more features afterward).

My photographer used both, digital and film. I was skeptical of the digital at first, but now that I have seen all of our photos, I actually like the digital better.

Our photographer only uses digital photography. We loved out engagement photos. The pictures come out brighter, clearer, they can cover blemishes in a way that a regular photographer can't. We were unsure of using digital but after we met with the photographer, we were hooked.

one thing to think about with digital...even if they give you a CD with the images, they most likely will not be a high enough resolution to make decent reprints. they may be nice to view on the compuuter, but if you want it enlarged it won't look so great. my photographer is giving me the negatives so i can reprint them at any time on my own. if you have all digital you probably have to go back to your photographer to get reprints, which is probably more costly and also what if your photographer goes out of business? maybe not now, but what about in 20 years? you also can have digital albums made even if your photos were taken with film.
