I'm getting both from K & J Photography since I have two photographers. I heard positives and negatives about both types, so I couldn't decide. Although I found that when I went to an all digital studio they frowned upon film and vice versa for those that used film only. I'm sure it's just part of the sales routine. I was going to go w/just film, but I like the idea of having my digitals on a disk.

I think a combination of the two is really the best. I talked at length with my photographers about this. They told me that lots of people get confused because nowadays; most traditional film gets digitally processed, so you can get digital images as well.

I think that digital cameras are a little less forgiving, but the right experienced photographer can do amazing work with them.

This is such a highly debated topic and there really is no 'right' answer. The quality of photos produced from digital cameras have dramatically improved in the past few years, that the differences are unrecognizable to the vast majority of people. At this point it is more about the Photographer and the equipment. If your photographer is using a high quality professional piece of equipment and is skilled at what he/she does you will be thrilled with the photos you receive.

There are various ways to answer this question. Main thing for me... Prints from BW digital just do not have the same depth and richness as from film. So I prefer film. But I'm very particular and am a photographer myself and have been a photo editor. I pay attention to details that most do not.

Also, if you prefer portrait shots you should do look into digital. It's posed. Shutter speed doesn't need to be so fast. And you can immediately check if you got what you need.

If you prefer candid or photojournalistic, film is faster and will catch the moment instantly as opposed to digital where there is a second delay - thats a difference between a smile and a frown.

Also, it depends on equipment. How good of a digital camera? For me 8 mega pixels is too small and the 2 dig photographers I met that's what they used - that was an instant no.

One thing - if you are choosing strictly digital you should be paying significantly less. I see a lot of digital photographers that charge just a little bit less when they're costs are cut significantly. Keep that in mind.

Digital is awesome for everything and pretty much the same or better qulaity... the exception is def black and white!!

Black and whites are much richer in film...
