nah, that's cool that you are a hairstylist and can do it on your own! if you feel comfortable doing that then go for it! just make sure it is a style that you know you will be able to do without getting frustrated and messed up. I know personally whenever i try to do my own hair for a special occasion i end up messing it up and then it is hard to fix. bit that is jut me, i am not particularly good at it to begin with.

i don't think it's crazy at all.

If I could actually DO something with my hair (other then a ponytail) I'd consider it....why spend all the money to potentially be disapointed...

...that's no fun. Besides YOU know exactly what you want...no explaining involved.

But it doesn't hurt to do trials with someone, just for piece of mind...

I don't think it's crazy at all!!! I work for a cosmetic company part-time and I have been with them for 9 yrs. I have done other people's make-up for their wedding. I have only had my make-up done once by someone else and I totally hated it!!! So why not do it yourself...you know you'll love the out come!!!

I hate to be the lone voice of dissent here, but I have to say I don't think it's a great idea if you're going for an updo. You'll be stressed enough on your wedding day - why add to it? I know that when I'm doing my hair in the morning, sometimes there's a lump in my ponytail that won't go away, or one curl in the back that won't go down, and after a few tries, I think, 'eh, screw it, I'll just go to work with it looking like this.' But you certainly can't do that on your wedding day, and annoying little things like that can happen to anyone, I'm sure, hairdresser or not.

Do you have any hairdresser friends that can help you out? Or at least a friend who's good with this kind of thing (or whom you can train to do your particular 'do) to at least do the back for you? If you want to save money, I think that's how you should go.

I feel the same way...
My mother is a hairdresser. There is no way I would let her do my hair my wedding day, because I know she will be stressed. Knowing her she will be more stressed than I am. I don't want her to have to worry about doing my hair. I asked her which one of her friends (who are hairdressers) would like to do my hair that morning, at least it will be someone she knows and that will hopefully keep her comfortable and calm.

If you go for a trial with someone at least you will have a chance to meet someone else. If you find out that you really don't like someone else doing it then do it.

Good luck!

I actually got my hair done for prom and HATED it! I ended up going home, taking it out, and doing it myself! So if with practice, it'll look fab!

i don't think its crazy, but do you think that you will be calm enough to be able to do it.

I know that I would prob be freaking out, but if you think you could.. go for it.. you'll prob be happier
