Dilema!!!!!!!!

Re: Dilema!!!!!!!!

ugh - dh & i dealt with this a LOT with our wedding! I always just nicely explained that dh & i were paying for everything ourselves & due to our HUGE family, we were very limited on who we could invite..that we wish we could invite everyone - but that is just wasn't do-able. if it's ur parents paying - then u can say the same thing...because they are paying, u're very limited to family & close friends.

Weddings definetly bring out the good/bad/ugly in people...but u know what? everyone who got funny about anything during our planning got over it when all was said and done..and she will too.. it's also hard for someone to understand until they've actually planned a wedding - so if she's still single, try not to take it to heart..she'll get it when it's her turn one day.

UGH - people have nerve...i enjoyed my planning - but this is one thing i do NOT miss

HAHA! That was good. I actually emailed her back and told her actually the truth as to why she wasn't invited and she responded very nicely....she was very mature about it.

glad to hear!

Yeah, she should not have said that to you. Who says that. I agree, just tell her you want to keep your guest list small. Come on, weddings aren't cheap that you can invite everyone and their mother.

ITA...if you wish to maintain the friendship, just tell her with the economy....blah blah....family and close friends first. You'd love for her to be there, but you and FH were given a set number and unless someone cannot make it, you cannot invite everyone you wish to. How do people NOT understand? It's expensive...

Re: Dilema!!!!!!!!

I hate when people expect to be invited to a wedding...even if you've only had 3 convos with them ever.

Blame it on the price...or you're at the max. for your hall..the wedding is fam. only. Any excuse. In the end, she's the one who's out of line.

I'm with everyone else. It was super rude of her to ask, but people just don't know wedding etiquette anymore. I have a college friend that I am not inviting (for private reasons) and I had to tell this friend that I was inviting family only and a few childhood/long-time friends. That answer just has to be accepted. I said that it doesn't change our friendship, but I think my friend is still hurt. Oh well. Can't please all the people all of the time!

I agree with Rocksummer... that is rude of her to even mention it!! One of my husbands co-workers actually approached him and asked why she wasn't invited.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?! If you're not invited just understand that people have their reasons...we can't invite EVERYONE we know and work with.. i told my husband to not even entertain her with an answer.. it really puts us in an awkward position!!
