Now that we are starting to put our guest list together we have a bit of a dilema. There is a certain member of my FH family that seems to drink to much and causes alot of problems in our relationship. Other than family affairs we do not speak. Do you think it would shake things up if we choose not to invite her? My FH wants to tell her not to drink but i feel like if you have to put stipulations on someone than you should not be around them. I'm torn about this one.

Re: Dilema
What does his parents say??
IMO its better to invite the person than to start a family fued over it... I also don't know the details about it, but I think that if your FH tells her not to drink that could cause another problem with her?

this seems like a very sticky situation! im really not sure how to go about it since i dont know too much about the family structure. i feel like it may be worse not to invite the person

this! do you have a DOC? she took care of situations like this at my sister's wedding. but maybe there's someone at the RH you can talk to about it like the BM can put the bartenders on high alert for this girl or at the very least maybe you can make a semi-lighthearted comment to her beforehand? sorry you're going through this!

Re: Dilema
i say invite her so there is no drama. maybe you can give the bartender a heads up beforehand to give her watered down drinks LOL or to cut ppl off at a certain point?

Re: Dilema
I would ask your inlaws what they think.
At my parents wedding, apparently my paternal grandmother had a drinking problem. They wanted her there so they told her no drinking at the wedding. So instead she showed up wasted. They had the RH make her leave.

Re: Dilema
I would either invite her or not, depending on what the family says, but I wouldn't tell her not to drink.. to me it just sounds kind of patronizing, especially since you wouldn't be telling her not to drink out of genuine concern for her, but because you don't want her to interfere with your day. It just seems kind of odd to tell an adult how to behave when you invite them somewhere, especially if you aren't super close with them.

Re: Dilema
only cause i think by not inviting her would make more of an issue, and more drama down the road i would suggest inviting her. as for the drinking part, people who like drama seem to also be the most childish. if you were to tell her not to drink all i can see happening is just to annoy you she would be living at the bar and god knows what would happen then. but i would say leave her in the hands of who ever's side she is from. if its your FH's side ask his parents to deal with her (and visa versa)
this is your day you and your FH shouldn't have to worry about a drunken family member trying to cause drama.

We're giving the bartenders a picture of my stepsister and telling them not to serve her but then again she's 16 so they shouldn't give her booze anyway! I'd say just warn the bartenders to water down her drinks

Re: Dilema
I completely agree with having the bartender give her watered down drinks. I also agree with a DOC! I hired cheeky glam in part to keep my mother as far away from my father as possible. There will be a blood bath if they get too close and I do not want to worry about it on my special day!

my cousin had to do this for his wedding, due to my younger cousin lol she still found a way around it, my uncle just got them for her.
