Dilemma

Dilemma

Okay so say for example 20 people FM'd me about this.......15 of the 20 said negative things.
Im talking about the bakery that my RH uses......
So................
What would you do? Use the bakery anyway.....how many people do you know actually eat the wedding cake anyways?
Maybe have the layer of the cake we cut real and the rest fake and then get a sheet cake or something?
IF we chose to go out on our own and use a different bakery.....how much do these darn cakes cost?

Im so confused, I dont know what to do.

Re: Dilemma

well if i got 15/20 negative responses then i honestly would not go with that bakery. Alot of people eat cake at weddings, i actually love eating the cake at weddings, but i like to eat in general lol so i dunno if im a good example to use, but i find that usually brides settle for not so good tasting cakes and im never sure why they do that....do brides really think people dont eat cake?!!

Cakes are charged by the slice so it all depends on what kind of cake you want...for ex, fondant, buttercream,etc...there are so many reasonably priced bakeries out there that bake amazing cakes just go for cake testings and youll eventually find the right cake at the right price

hmm...well how important is the cake to you in the overall wedding? if it's not that big a deal (which for me it isn't, just want it to look pretty) then don't worry about it. Most RH have a different dessert than just the cake and i think it's important that taste good..are you having a separate dessert?

in my opinion.. if 15 out of 20 people had negative things to say about the cakes.. I wouldn't get it from there then! I know some people don't even eat the cakes but for some reason.. to me its still important. To some it may not be though.. whatever you would want to do is really up to you chicky!

Re: Dilemma

I'm with Chrissy on this.

My only concern is does this bakery provide all of the desserts/baked goods?

For example, I don't really care what our wedding cake tastes like bc we are having a VH. People tend to eat the other desserts if given the option to do so. But if the bakery your RH uses does the cake and all the other desserts where does that leave you? A bunch of bad desserts?

If you are just having wedding cake I say go out and bring in your own from a baker you trust. If you planned on having other desserts you might want to have a conversation with your RH about this.

I normally wouldnt care about the cake BUT I know there will be people there that will chime their 2 cents in and say something if they didnt like the cake..........
We do have another dessert option so its not like the cake will be the only dessert...........

Re: Dilemma

see if they can make a some samples for you to try and if you do not like it go elsewhere. My hall uses audreys and I tried them over the weekend and they were pretty good. I paid I think $20 but now I know what to expect.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have yet to go to a wedding where the cake was that good. Most times I am one of those people that doesn't even eat it. If you are having another dessert option, I wouldn't stress it.

Why don't you ask the bakery to sample there cakes? Then you can see how it tastes for yourself.....Not for nothing but how can you screw up a cake especially if you are professional bakers???

Re: Dilemma

I would see if you could get a tasting of the type of cake that you want and then go based on your own experience. Plus....like another poster mentioned....are you having a full VH hour?? then it's definitely not worth it because the wedding cake is just about the last thing eaten!!

Re: Dilemma

also...some cakes can run you anywhere from $300-$1000 (or more).....maybe throw in a candy table for another desert option which would cost MUCH less than that??? just a thought
