dilemma! (long)

dilemma! (long)

I'm so unsure of what to do in this situation - two girls in my BP have gotten engaged since I asked them to be in my BP; my MOH (best friend since 2nd grade) and my cousin. Both of them have asked me to be in their weddings next year, which was fine and good when I first found out about them. My MOH asked me to be her MOH and my cousin asked me to be a BM. I mentioned to each of them that they were both getting married and to try not to pick the same month, especially since they are both having destination weddings. So, my MOH secures May 17, 2008 in Disney World and my cousin secures Sept 6, 2008 in Barbados - I thought I was in the clear. However, I just got an email from my cousin saying that they've changed their minds, they're now getting married May 2, 2008 in Cancun! There is no way I can afford 2 destination weddings next May! Plus I don't have the vacation time. Because of my own wedding and HM later this year, I'm tapped out - I have 1 week of vacation that I can take between my HM and July 2008. So not only can I not make it to both weddings, I can't be there for Bridal Showers/Bachelorette Parties, even though they're both flying in for mine! I do NOT know what to do. Neither one of them will understand if I have to back out, plus it'll cause stress for my OWN wedding in Sept. What the heck am I supposed to do?!

oh wow, that really stinks, I'm sorry.

If I were in your situation - and I totally understand why you can't do both, I think I would be in your best friend's wedding, because she asked you and 'reserved the date' first.

all i can think of is thank goodness for credit cards - i should warn my boss now and pray they don't fire me

WOW!!!!!!! I have no freakin' clue what I would do. You might have to back out of the one that you are a BM in. If you were asked to be the other's MOH then you must be a lil closer??!!??! Oh Boy, why do we always have these situations to go through?? I know that she is your cousin but hopefully she will understand!! Let us know what happens!

yes, technically, my MOH got engaged 2 months before my cousin and they both 'booked' their dates the same weekend. and then my cuz has to go an change things!!

as much as i love my cuz, she's crazy - she will never forgive me if i back out. and neither will my BFF. i can't wait to talk to my mom about this one. . .

Maybe you could talk to your cousin and tell her your situation? If you both are close then she would understand and tell her that your MOH booked her date first and that is why you are asking your cousin to compromise and for her to choose a different date in another month. I am so sorry this is a tough situation

omg this is a toughy and I am sorry you have to go through this... I would try to go to your boss and talk to them & after your wedding save and say a prayer... or if i had to choose i would not go to the one that changed there date no matter how hard it is and hopefully this person would understand especially since they changed there date....

good luck in whatever your choice...

personally i would just try to suck it up and go to both and charge on my CC if i had to and worry about it after! and pray my boss would not fire me!

Re: dilemma! (long)

thanks for the nice thoughts ladies.

chances are, i'm gonna make it to both. it just stinks because originally, when they were supposed to be in may and sept, we were going to make two short vacations out of it. (especially in sept, when it would be our 1 yr anniversary!!)

but now, i'm just going to have to take the minimum amount of days necessary to get to cancun and disney, probably without FH, since that'll be the only way we can afford it. what a bummer

OMG! This is such a tough situation!

I guess I would go with your MOH since your cousin changed her mind. Not that that makes it any better or easier of a situation.

Good luck. That is the best advice I can give you.

Although it is a bummer to go without FH - in the end you will be happier that you went to both and won't feel guilty, or stressed. Like you said, take the minimum amount of days.
