DirecTV?

I'm going to be moving into my new home next week, and I don't know if I should get Cablevision or DirectTV. The previous owners had DTV, I do know.

DTV also has a promotion now where after the $99 rebate, you get a DTV box free with DVR for free with up to 3 additional boxes. Plus the cost of their DVR is 5.99/month while Cablevision's is more than that, not to mention paying for use of the box?

What should I get? Which is better service?

I would get Directtv I have had it for almost 6 years and are happy with them.

The only thing is on really bad weather we may lose the t.v. for awhile but that is it.

I have opt voice, gold package and computer internet for $100 a month thats with 2 boxes and remotes. I had alot of problems with DTV when the wheater was bad we always lost signals so I chose Cablevison.

Me too...I would choose Cablevision over DirecTV. I can count how many times I lost signal during the Yankee games. That pissed me off!

I have the same package except I upgraded the gold package a little and pay about $118/mo for all 3.

if you are doing HDTV (and want DVR too)
you have to buy expensive eqipement where as cablevision doesn't charge (HD box) (DVR extra)

Just in heavy snow have i lost sat. signal.

I hate cablevision too but they do have a good deal with internet/phone/tv for 100 a month... i was paying 140 before for just internet and tv. (we moved there for switching names and consider a new customer)

I thought DTV would be less expensive because with Cablevision you have to pay fees for the equipment each month, as well as the service. How much does the DVR cost for Cablevision? I thought it was like $15/month including the cost of the DVR box, while it's 5.99/month for cablevision.

you may not be thinking of HDTV but if you plan on getting one in the near future 1 to 2 years, just be careful with satillite contracts...

you get more for you money with satillite. they still have the same fee cablevision would have. just on avgerage the service is cheapier by a few bucks

We have had both and LOVE DirecTV. Ours never goes out, though I know other people complain about it.
