I posted on here a couple of weeks ago about having a Christmas wedding (12.5.15). My Groom and I are pretty confined to certain weekends as our schedule does not permit otherwise due to job constraints. I did not act fast enough on Flowerfields and now my date is gone at that venue. The way I see it, I have three options..
1. See if they have a Friday wedding (12.4.15) and have to deal with the hassle of people missing work, missing ceremony, or just being unhappy about it.
2. Go to a more expensive venue, that I do like too, but will cost me approximately $15,000 more.
3. Settle for a venue that I'm not thrilled about but will cost about the same as Flowerfields.
Has this happened to any of you before? I know our day will be great regardless, but it still stings. We lost the date all in a matter of a week and half.

Friday weddings see more common. I.think if u dint have allot of out of town guests no one will complain. My ceremony is at 5pm cocktail hour at 8pm that allows people that want to make the church to work but get out a little early. No one has complained about our Friday wedding yet....but I have heard other complaints....like that they don't like that we did a honeymoon registry! So I.think if it was a problem I would have heard about it! And I have 2 bridal party members that live in Florida and about 4 or 5 other couples that are OFS abs no-one said a word! I.would check for Friday in a heart beat!! Personally $15k is not worth a different venue that's a lot!! But u shouldn't have to settle either.

I don't think a Friday date is a big deal :) The most important people will come and that's who you want there. Originally, we were going to have a Sunday twilight wedding but our venue accidentally forgot to put us in their main book, so it got taken. They gave us a Sat night at the same price, but I would have easily gotten married on a Sunday to save money. People complain about Sunday weddings too with work the next day, etc. I know you said your dates aren't that flexible, but could another option be having the wedding at Flowerfield in 2016 so you get the day of the week you want?

I think it is really nice how you are thinking about your guests and not wanting to inconvience them, however this is YOUR day. So in regards of your options, let's look at the champagne glass as half full. You can still have your wedding at Flowerfields just one day before your original date. As far as it being a Friday wedding that is really not that big of a deal. Your guests can either request the day off from their job and enjoy their 3 day weekend kicking it off with an awesome wedding on Friday or leave their job early. The day of the week will not matter to those that truly want to be their for you on your special day. And for those that choose to complain and whine about it they can stay home, watch tv and have some cheese with their w(h)ine. Option 2 is a no go because that extra $15000 can be put towards a down payment for a house and as far as Option 3 goes a soon-to-be bride will not settle for a venue that she is not happy with. If you ask me sweetie, I think all in all things may actually be looking in your favor. Like you said your day will be great regardless and your FH will be their waiting to see his bride come down that aisle no matter what day of the week it is

I was going to suggest a Sunday twilight wedding. I'm getting married on a Sunday and I love that no one has to miss work (unless they want to on Monday). Plus in the winter, it will get dark early-- around 4/5pm, so you would have 90% of your wedding as an evening affair but end early enough for people to travel/get home to work in the morning. I personally don't like Friday weddings since you ALWAYS have to miss work, and people are still in work mode when they show up.
Fridays have become so common i don't think you should worry about that. You're better off saving yourself the $15K and sticking with the venue you love! Believe me, people will take the time off and still be able to make it.

This exact situation happened to us, and we decided to just go for a Friday wedding. We had no opinions on it but were just set on a Saturday because that's what we saw as 'normal'.... but having it somewhere else just because of the day of the week didn't make much since in the grand scheme of things. Once it was booked and there was no going back we got over it and it doesn't bother me anymore. I'd decide quickly because you'd be surprised at how fast the Friday dates go as well! Good luck!

I don't think there is anything wrong with a friday wedding. As everyone said it's super common now and those who want to be there will find a way. If you fell in love with a place and nothing can compare I would just do it. I understand how you feel in a way, I'm havingnanlate day Sunday wedding and a lot of people have to take off from work to be there. But I know those who are most important to me will be.

I actually preferred a Friday night wedding. Aside from the cost savings I liked the idea of having the rest of the weekend to recuperate. If you give enough notice I don't think people generally mind taking off or leaving work early.

I choose the Friday option. 15k is a huge difference, and then the other option just sounds like you're settling with something you don't love.

This. Friday night is not a huge deal and you'll save money in the process. The ones who want to be there will be there and your day will be amazing no matter what. Don't settle for something you're not sure you want.

You can't please everyone. It's your day. I'm having a Friday wedding ceremony at 2:30pm cocktail hour at 6. It's what worked for us and that's all that matters.

I would do a Sunday afternoon wedding instead of a Friday night.

Have you thought about contacting Lands End in Sayville? Since they are sister venues? I was originally looking at a November wedding and I thought it was a nice venue for the winter.
Dates go quick when it's one wedding at a time :(

Definitely do a Friday or Sunday wedding people who want to be there will be there. I'm doing a Friday wedding and it really helped with vendor discounts as well.

We're doing a Friday wedding. I've gone to a couple of them myself. If it means saving that much money, I wouldn't hesitate to book the Friday date. As mentioned, you give people ample enough time to take off work, there shouldn't be a problem.

Just do Friday all the way! Get the place you love and save $15,000
