Discolored tiara?

I just bought my tiara this weekend. It came in plastic with a little tag that says fingerprints can cause permanent discoloration. Has anyone experienced this? I want to try it on but I don't want to ruin it in the process!

what if you use gloves when you try it? you can try those that are for clinics that are made of latex.

not sure...but my sister won an ebay auction for a tiara for like $15...well within a month it was discolored...and she ended up getting something else...
