Keeping up with your registry is like a full-time job. Bed bath and beyond kept having items coming in and out of stock, so I had to keep updating it. They have an awesome return policy though! I got some triplicates from my shower and was expecting store credit but they gave me cash back.

Discontinued items on registry

Yeahhhh. It's annoying to have to update, especially so soon after putting it together! I had a few things go out of stock on mine, but they're since come back so I'm good. But if they discontinue I'd definitely put something new in there1

So annoying! We are getting those all the time too! FH smiles every time we get one because he kept saying we should wait to do our registry so every email we get he says 'Told you we should have waited' but he doesn't realize that items that we have REPLACED are being discontinued too lol

It really is like a full time job!

Discontinued items on registry

I created the registries but refuse to update it till about February. I know with the holidays coming around items are going to be discontinued and out of stock. I'll wait to the new year and update it when they receive their new shipment of items.

Discontinued items on registry

A lot of new housewares lines come out around November - January (to take advantage of holiday selling & it's a peak time for brides to register). Retailers will then mark down any discontinued programs after Christmas.
So for anyone who hasn't started yet, and/or is looking to update, I would probably wait until January (if you have time). If it's still regular price then, it should be around for at least a year.
If something you like (particularly China, glassware, silver) does get discontinued, I would recommend reaching out directly to the manufacturer (instead of the retailer). The better companies (think.Lenox, Villeroy & Boch, mikasa) will hold onto excess discontinued items for a while after the retailers mark it down, primarily to be able to service disappointed brides! You wont be able to register with them, but can at least provide the info to your mom /moh to let people attending your shower know.

Hope this helps :)
