discussing wedding

So..... do u think it's right or not to discuss the wedding with people who you probably aren't going to invite?

I am talking to a friend/acquantance/friend through a friend person about the date and where. Not going into detail cuz there isn't much to say anyway right now. but i kinda feel bad cuz i dont plan on inviting him.

thoughts?

Re: discussing wedding

i think its fine...some ppl from work ask me about the wedding planning all the time, but they aren't people who i will probably be inviting.

eta: although these ppl dont expect to be invited...and i don't try to bring it up to them...only if they ask me.

i would only tell them small details, but thats only if they ask. If they don't ask, i wouldn't tell them anything

Re: discussing wedding

I work with 130 guys and everytime my wedding comes up everyone asks 'do you know who you're inviting?' and its so hard because out of those 130 im close with like 50 but out of those 50 im closest with like 10 so they most likely will be invited.... the way I get out of it, and most times it works is in a joking tone ask 'do you believe in triple the plate cash wedding gifts? cause if u do ur invited' and start laughing after that they normally stop asking

Re: discussing wedding

I'm in a weird situation. I work in a store so my coworkers ask all the time about it. A good amount are going to be invited so I'm not too worried. I obviously can't invite everyone so I am drawing the line at - All managers are invited - plus those who are grandfathered in (those I've know 5+years) so yeah, people ask and I discuss it. But I try not to discuss too much detail because I don't want ppl to think somethings not cool or if I don't decide to do soemthing saying 'where are those things you said you were gonna have?' etc...

Re: discussing wedding

It's a blanket rule that I don't discuss i all too much with others b/c I have good ideas -- not to sound cocky but I've planned several weddings about 10 and I know what I like and don't like and I love wedding books and I'm taking a course blah blah balh all this to say Folks THIEVE on my ideas!!!! THIEVE on them. .

MY wedding is not till 2010 and I REFUSE to have an original idea THIEVED and then I look like I copied -- sorry it's that we all share in a group of folks and it would drive me nuts to hear OOOhh we saw this at so and so's party/mitzvah/wedding/whatever. . .

Also -- it's awkward when you KNOW that u aren't inviting the person.
