Disney/Universal for couples?

DH and I would like to go away with two couples for New Years. We all agreed we'd like to do Disney but I'm not sure where the best places are to stay when you're w/o children! Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Ive stayed in the Port Orleans French Quarter Hotel - it was really nice there. It is one of the moderate price hotels. You will see some kids there ofcourse but not as much if you stayed in one of the All-Star resorts. Im taking DH there in February since hes never been. Have fun!

We go quite frequently and either stay at Port Orleans or Boardwalk - both on Disney Property. There are tons of kids but both hotels have quiet pools if you want to get away from them. Everyone I know that has stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge raves about it.

There are tons of hotels in the area that provides shuttles to all the parks. Double check all the rates - we were looking for something off disney property and got one rate through expedia, another from Orbitz & 2 from the hotel itself - use AAA if you can (that was the cheapest through the hotel's site). I believe you can get discount park tickets with AAA also.

There will always be kids but I would say there are a good number of childfree groups there as well.

Disney has Pleasure Island and Universal has City Walk which are nighttime entertainment centers with restaurants and bars. The boardwalk also has some bars as well as a dance club & dueling piano bar club.

Re: Disney/Universal for couples?

i took Fh there for his 30th birthday and we had a great time

we stayed at the Sheraton Studio City Hotel which was right outside universal...

it was nice and had those great new beds that all the sheratons have - it was right outside the entrance to the Universal and you could see the roller the 'hulk' from our room - since it wasnt in the heart of the parks it wasnt overrun with kids - and it was a great price - under 100 dollars a night....

DH and I LOVE the Animal Kingdom lodge - it is great to sit with a glass of wine on your balcony and watch the animals outside, Jiko is one of the best restaurants on WDW property, there is a nice lounge, overall we saw a lot of couples and a lot of honeymooners here. It does have some families but since it is farther from the parks it tends to attract couples and families with older children who want to spend more time at the resort. It also has two nice hot tubs blocked off with greenery so there is some privacy. - It is still easy to get to the parks since the buses at AKL are NOT shared with any other hotel - they were VERY quick and we never waited for more than 5 mins for any bus all week.

actually

if i just realized if you guys want to be closer to disney world rather than uinversal - i have also stayed at theSheraton Safari

it was really nice - same great beds----- the whole hotel is all safrai themed ---- with a 'python water slide' - and was right outside the entrace to disney world

either hotel that i suggested you would have to get a car to get around - but are out of the main confusion and are better priced

the lobbies of each hotel also offered discount attraction tickets for disney world/universal/sea world etc.

Have to agree JIKO is excellent!

We always stay at the Wilderness Lodge.

We are staying at the wilderness lodge next month, I can let you know how that is after I get back. Last new year's I stayed at the swan, it is in walking distance to epcot and the boardwalk! Awesome location, and not a lot of kids at all!

Ohhh it is a great hotel I have stayed at almost all of the deluxes and some of the moderates and it is my favorite - I think a lot of that is because it is so unique - anyway I have pictures from our honeymoon in my wedding review - but you can also see pictures of AKL at:all ears net see photos under hotels

They're all great, but teh ALl Satrs have more kids. We stayed at Port Orleans FQ and loved it. it was very quiet and romantic!

We might go for new year's too. Keep in mind it's the most crowded time of the year!
