Re: display of place cards
I would def use some sort of holder for them or something else (possibly a board displaying everyone's table# and name)... i just placed them on the table w/ flowers and candles around and the cards kind of looked messy to me... some of them were toppled over and it would have just looked a lot nicer in a holder I think.

Re: display of place cards
thanks so much for the ideas. I still just am not sure and as you can see I need to decided pronto! I wanted to do a bed of flowers from the florist and just have the cards on top, but my florist wanted $400 for that. I dont know if fake flowers would look right. I just want something flowery and pretty and unique. I know I am asking for alot.

I am not doing anything unusual either. In the beginning of the planning I had a great creative idea that just became too much of a hassle. However if you would like to put them on a bed of rose petals I suggest buying freezed dried ones from Flyboynaturals.com. They are great. You can get them in advance too. I have had mine for months and I am going to put them in bags this weekend for them to be thrown after the ceremony. Check them out. HTH
I was thinking luggage tags... still trying to find inexpensive ones that don't look TOO tacky.

Re: display of place cards
DIY it; grow your own wheat grass or buy it-buying it ususally costs about 20 bucks a pallet. you ahev to just lay it down, maybe cover the plastic casing with colored paper or ribbons (be creative!) and then place your cards on top. If you want 'gardeny' throw a watering can full of pretty flowers in the middle-or one of those galvanized milk can looking things from AC MOORE. Just buy the flowers from your florist or hell, even Costco (lovely flowers) andstick em ina nd voila; flowerry and cheap.
These were ours; we kept it simple.

I think Debi plans to buy the adirondack beach chair card holders, and put them in a sand base, that her Dad plans to help her with. Mary MOB

Re: display of place cards
As a past bride I will say this heather- place card holders are a waste of moola. We had them for ours because my MIL insisted so people could take them as favors. at the end of the evening when we were getting our stuff together, there were easily 30 of the suckers left behind on tables and that wasn't counting the ones that my cousins had stolen so they had doubles. I say keep it simple and spend the extra dough ona nice flower arrangement or soemthing.

Thanks for your opinion. I got our placecards and was thinking about also getting card holders because I think that they will look messy when they are lined up but I guess you only look at the cards lined up for a minute and then walk away.

Re: display of place cards
My cousin did something pretty different. She printed out a sheet of paper with the table number at the top and a list of people sitting at that table. Then put it inside a picture frame! The frames all sat on a table at the enterance of the hall and people just scanned the frames to find their names!

Re: display of place cards
A friend of mine went to a wedding last year where they had a poster of NYC and each table was a different area in the city (ie. Greenwich Village, Upper East Side). All the names were listed on the poster.

How about this...

We used a scroll like this, only we had our picture as the background. I didn't mind spending the money on this because I didn't want to have to write out 200 place cards the week of the wedding. There were so many other things I needed to do.

Re: display of place cards
I did place card frames to keep them neat, and then I put one of our engagement pics in a similar frame with a flower arrangement on the table. Theres a pic of it in one of my albums
