Disposable table cameras

I purchased the cameras for our tables at the reception, and may even put some in the cocktail hour room, but I was wondering...I know it`s good to keep them in the fridge to keep the film fresh, but do I have to worry that the cold temp will wear down the battery for the flash? They`ve been in the fridge for about a month and we have about three more months to go. Our fridge is kept at about 40 degrees.

Eek-mine are in a rubbermaid tote! Is the fridge necessary? *NM*

Kel, We purchased ours months ago and they have been the ine fridge since then...I figured that I keep film the in fridge so why would the cameras be any different. Lisa

Back in the day when I had time to be into photography, I thought I once overheard a salesman telling a customer in a camera shop that the camera battery would run down quicker in cold temperatures. Now, maybe 40 degrees is within reason, and maybe this guy was talking about leaving the camera in the car in the middle of winter (which it was) overnight for days at a time. I`d just hate to have fresh film but low or dead batteries resulting in no flash. Stay tuned .. I put a duplicate of this note on the vendor board so maybe some of the pro photographers will be able to offer insight .. or anyone else here.

Kel, Actually todays newer films have more preservatives than snack foods so unless you are going to use the cameras a few years after the expiration date you probably have no need for worry. I keep batteries in the fridge all the time to preserve them. But here is what you need to do. Take the cameras out of the fridge a few days before you are going to use them. The batteries need time to come back to room temperature and more important you want to make sure that condensation doesn`t accumulate when you open the camera`s package. I forgot to mention. Never place film in the fridge if it isn`t sealed. This will almost always result in condensation on the film and can ruin it. Hope this helps!
