Distressed

Distressed

I just feel like blowing off some steam b/c I am having some trouble.

I would really like to get married somewhere tropical, alone, with my fiance. However, he has a VERY large family (I only have my sister and my father) and they think that I am kidding when I suggest this. They have actually laughed in my face when I have brought it up. I have always wanted my wedding on a white beach somewhere, etc., but now I am having a big ceremony only to please everyone else. Honestely, I am very upset. I understand that your wedding is for family celebration. On the other hand I feel as if planning something I really don't want may drive me crazy (Not to mention that no one is even listening when I make suggestions). It seems so commercial now so that no one really appreciates the actual Vows!

Anyone have any advice or ever had a similar experience? Your help would make me feel a lot better.

I am lucky enough that my father is helping us, however, that doesn't make me feel much better about the situation. There are so many ways to keep the costs down, but have a great wedding. Be creative and I'm sure you will do alright.

I decided I am just going to shut up and go with the whole thing. The problem is that my family situation is a mess. My sister and dad don't get along. My mother passed away a few years ago and my dad will bring his current girlfriend to the wedding. My father is also in an argument with my uncle...UUGGH! Why can't we all just get along??

No offense, but if your mom won't help you, you will have to stand up to her on the invite list. 300 is huge for just your side! Try to invite only the people you really want there. I would hate to pay for people I didn't even know or haven't seen in like 20 years!
