FH parents are divorced and they have not spoke in years, they live states away. FH was talking to his dad about walking down the aile and he was not so agreeable and FH is upset that for one day they counld just be civil for him. I on the other hand think it will work out, his dad has a great heart and i'm sure dosen't want to but will. Hi fathers comment was can't i stay on the side line. I have hope... since for our E-party they were in the same room. His mom is remarried so does her new husband walk down the aile (i think we rather him not.) and if not who should she walk with? With that said does anyone have suggestions on who his father can walk down with and the best way to keep them distant (we were think his grandmother)? Can they both walk alone?? THANKS!

Re: Divorced parents-who to walk down at church?
Could maybe his dad walk with a grandma? Also are there any family members int he BP? Maybe one of them could walk his mom down, and then loop back around to walk with the Bridesmaid? That is what I am doing. I am having a family member walk my stepmom down since my dad is walking me. HTH

I don't think it's a problem if he walks down the isle alone.....or he can also walk down with his mother... it wouldn't look weird at all..... GD I know how difficult planning something like this would be cause my parents are divorced and my mom cant stand my dad so i dont know about our pictures now

Do they each have a family member of their own to walk them down. Like an aunt or uncle of yours? My mom is single and walked with her godson (my cuz) in my sisters wedding. I think if they are uncomfortable walking together they shouldn't have too.

Why can't your FH walk his mom down the aisle?

Re: Divorced parents-who to walk down at church?
Why can't FH's mom walk with her current husband? I think it would be really awkward and unfair to them to have Fh's parent's walk together if they do not get along or haven't dealt with each other in years, especially if the Mom is remarried. Is this at the ceremony or RH?? having them present and acting civil to each other is a huge step for both as it is.
My parent's separated when I was 14 and my mom remarried. As much as I would love to I would never consider asking them to do me that favor and walk together because while they are my parents they are actually not together anymore.

Re: Divorced parents-who to walk down at church?
DH's parents are divorce, both remarried, and can't stand each other. It's a miracle we got them in the same room for the rehearsal dinner.
With that said, each parent walked down the aisle with their own spouse. DH's grandmother (only living grandparent) was escorted in first by DH's brother, FIL and SMIL came next, then MIL and SFIL, finally, my brother escorted in my mother.
Then the groomsmen all walked in with DH to the altar, and then the bridesmaids came down the aisle one by one alone, and finally my father walked me down the aisle.
It worked out really well and the order was totally fine. The hard thing you will have to figure out is which pew/row you seat your FH's parents in. The jockeying for prime viewing is tough and if you can't get them into the same pew/row, you might have to gerry-rig something.
