Ok so I'm going to attempt to do some DIY stuff, because I'm completely bored at this point with very few things left to plan for my wedding.

I'm curious as to where you girls got the ideas/instructions for your DIY projects?

This question is directed at you meejack1110!!! I'm pretty sure you posted a bunch of your stuff and I thought 'Wow, that girl is the DIY QUEEN!!!'

If there is anything specific you want to do the easiest thing is to google whatever it is and diy. That's how I found the instructions for my brooch bouquet. Its also how I got the idea for my invitations.

I have to make sure the things I do aren't HUGE and don't take up a lot of space, bc we live in a tiny apartment. But I figured I could do some things that I otherwise wouldn't be able to afford if I did them myself.

I'm thinking along the lines of a sign telling people about our instagram hashtag, table numbers, ring bearer's ring box, flower girl basket, maybe a sign in book/poster of some sort?

Also maybe even doing my own personalization on robes/oversized button downs for my BMs. Do we think this is being too ambitious? I'm pretty handy, and creative, and just don't want to end up spending a ton of money on things I can do myself.

That's exactly why I am all abouy diy. If I can do it myself why pay someone else. Definitely just google that stuff and look at the images. Once you know exactly what you want you can google specific instructions.
For my brothers wedding we bought baskets for the flower girls from the 99 cent store, then spray painted them white and decorated them with lace and ribbon. All together it was probably $12 for 3 baskets.
I think you have plenty of time to get all that done.
Besides my brooch bouquet and invitations im also doing table numbers, a thank you banner, flower girl baskets, ring boy pillow, and possibly a guest book. This is why i started it all already haha.

If you can personalize clothing yourself, I say go for it! I would definitely start those things early, though, in case you're not happy with how they turn out.

Also check out Pinterest!

Awww! Thanks. Hahaha I'm certainly not a pro but I try really really hard! Also I'm cheap so that helps. Because if a DIY project costs big bucks its not even worth it!

I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and Etsy. I find something I like and then start to research how to do it. There are so many blogs and you tube videos to help, but if anything you've seen interests you feel free to ask me and if I know how I'll of course help!

Re: DIY

Here is the how to for my Instagram Faux Blackboard sign.

This is done on black card board paper...like oaktag almost but has a matte surface. I cut it out the size I needed (in that case an 8x10 since I put it in a picture frame I had on hand.)

Anyway I searched online for an image I wanted. Printed it, added my lettering, and enlarged it to the size I needed (on a photocopier) if its just wording you need, you can basically just print out the words in the size you need. The picture doesn't even need to be good quality because you are just using it to trace.

So anyway once you have the picture and its the size you want it, flip it over and scribble pencil on the back of where the design is. Kind of like making your own carbon paper. Once you've covered the whole back of the design with pencil, you can put the picture pencil side down onto the pre cut black paper (make sure you line it up straight) and trace along the lines on the good side with a pen, which in turn leaves the pencil outline on the black paper.

Hope I didn't lose you yet...

Then, once you've trace all of the outline, you can write over the pencil lines with a white chalk pen or paint pen. Just take your time and go over each line, the white line will cover the pencil, so once it dries you are done!!

Stick it in a frame, and you don't have to worry about it smudging...ever!

Please post pics if you do this and msg me if you need help. Best thing is that the black paper is only like 1.99 for a big sheet, so even if you mess up, its easy enough to re do until perfect. And one paint/chalk pen can run you only $3 so its really only the frame you need to worry about.

You can do stuff like menus and programs (I did menus for e party if you look in my albums) that's a good one to do ahead of time and doesn't take up alot of room. Card stock + printer and colored ink! Stuff like seating cards probably have to wait until closer to the wedding when you have a head count

As much as I want to do this, I still am not 100% sure of colors, and I don't know what my invitations are going to look like yet. I want them to be somewhat cohesive, so I'm gonna have to wait on that!

Also, I'm severely regretting letting my mom get rid of my bedazzler in the 6th grade!!

I hear you, same here! I guess you're right, it's better to stick to things that dont necessarily have to 'go' with the theme or colors!
