DIY Card Box

Hey girls!!

So I have decided that the card box will be my first DIY project. I am kinda nervous and I have found a couple of sites that are somewhat helpful, but I really don't know if I can do this. lol.

Here is my inspiration pic...

If you guys have any tips or maybe pics of the card boxes you have done, I would really appreciate it!

TIA!!

Re: DIY Card Box

I'm working on mine this upcoming week, but that's definately doable. Take a trip to Michaels, AC Moore, Joanne's, etc. and pick up the things that you see on there - I've seen all of that there . Joanne's looks to be the fabric superstore - I'm going tomorrow morning so I'll let you know how it goes.

The main annoying part on my end so far has been finding the 'Right' sized boxes!

Thanks!! I keep forgetting about Joanne's! I've got to get there...

The part that I am worried I am going to screw up is gluing the fabric to the boxes. I guess it'll be a lot of trial and error.

ETA: I'm also worried about the bow.... after all of this Xmas wrapping, I have finally come to terms with the fact that I can't make my own bows to save my life!!

Yeah, I'm worried about that part too - is there a special fabric glue that I should be buying?

I just worked on the cake topper and I have crazy glue all over my fingers lol

lol oh no!

Well the couple of sites I found use a adhesive spray... I might get the spray and regular glue and see which one looks better.

ughh im already dreading this! lol. But, I can't bring myself to spend $60 on a card box!

Ohh thanks, I'll try to see if I can find that at Joanne's tomorrow. I have a bunch of 40% coupons that I plan on using lol.

Yeah, I can't get myself to spend that either, or $60+ on a cake topper. Although now I get why people do spend it lol

Good luck! thats a gorgeous inspiration photo! I'm sure you can do it! I think a light coat of spray adhesive is a good idea, wrap the fabric tight around the box, and then maybe use some hot glue on the bottom seam where people wont see it? Good luck with the bow! I think the spools of wired ribbon usually have some crazy bow making instructions on them. Or you could do it in two parts where you wrap ribbon in loop then take a smaller piece to wrap around the center to secure it.

Cant wait to see how it comes out!

Re: DIY Card Box

love it! i am sure it will come out nice!

I was looking for a previous thread about a DIY cardbox...i was questioning the fabric to use and the adhesive to use and a few ladies that already did their cardbox suggested I wait bc it wouldnt last til August. well they said it would last but would need some touch up work. if i find the
thread ill bump it but you may want to keep that in mind

whenever you do it...good luck!
